TildeGuy~! Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Also the fact he was on a cover of the magazine a few weeks before his return took place Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Oh Christ yeah they spoiled it in the magazine. Suppose that can't be helped but him doing the pose was lame. His heel run saved that return. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted November 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 11, 2025 Maddest thing about that rubbish Save.Us return is that a few weeks earlier they had the perfect opportunity to bring him back, when Cena got injured and they went into the No Mercy pay per view with no World Champion. It made so much sense to capitalise on the chaos, and the fans were chanting so loudly for Jericho during the opening promo, that Vince had to acknowledge it with, a “you’re not getting that.” Absolute boner killer. Would have been brilliant. Such a shame they decided it was more important to do two Orton vs. Triple H matches on that show, and stick with the original plan. An over-produced, anwkward angle involving a fella running with a flame, followed by Jericho coming out with a shitty sparkly waistcoat and rubbish short hair. Like a Disco Gordon Ramsay. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted November 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 11, 2025 Wasn't the save.us one the return with the blinking coat? There was a bit where someone tried to interview him, he just smiled and the coat lit up? Worth it just for that I think. Quote

Save.us was the awful waistcoat and the WWE debut of his short Bon Jovi haircut. He looked awful in the combo of long tights and that barnet. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 Disco Gordon Ramsey has me creasing. Quote

Yeh, his save_us return, he interrupted Orton, who said "What are you saving us from?" to which he replied "Your boring personality, for one thing". Quote
The Gaffer Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 I remember being really excited for the save.us stuff at the time. An important piece of context I think is that it was the first potentially feelgood, fresh bit of a shakeup that had happened since the Benoit stuff a few months back. It might also be one of the first examples of a trope they'd play on endlessly in the years that followed: WWE themselves using "We know it's not as good as it was" in the storylines. At the time it was novel, though, and I remember as a teenager being quite wrapped up in the fact that a proper funny star was coming back to make Raw more exciting again. Then he came out with that singer-in-the-band-found-christ look and started doing weird hand gesticulations. They pretty much lost faith in him by the time the Armageddon match with Orton was over. He saved himself with that heel turn. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 It was implied to be because of the Benoit stuff, no? Obviously not referencing it on TV but Jericho was "saving" us from the depressing time post Benoit when WWE felt like the dark days. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted November 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 12, 2025 (edited) Great to see. I welcome every single indicator that he’s definitely going back to WWE. This is just the latest. Glad everyone has made the correct decision for everyone involved. Now watch Tony Khan turn the lights off at the end of Blood and Guts…. Imagine saying this after wrestling in front of 80,000 people at Wembley and he’s talking about a TNA show which sold 2k less tickets then they announced and had a show which ended with a good amount of the 5.5k in attendance already gone after the Hardy’s/Dudleys match Quote
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted November 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 12, 2025 What difference does it make if he's worked bigger crowds in the past? He's bigging up a show his pals were on, whilst chatting with them. What would you expect him to do? Quote
