Paid Members Jazzy G Posted February 9, 2022 Paid Members Posted February 9, 2022 It's Dixie Carter, who's their latest EVP. Her first duty is to announce that next week there's going to be an announcement. Also EC3 turns up. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted February 10, 2022 Paid Members Posted February 10, 2022 (edited) They released Keith Lee out of choice. He was on their roster and they decided their company was better off without him. Unbe-fucking-lievable. Stonking debut. He’s going to eclipse even Sting and Punk in the, “what the fuck were they thinking?!” stakes. Top tier, all timer Dynamite. Fun from start to finish. Second week in a row where I’m left in a fantastic mood after watching some bloody brilliant pro-wrestling. I’m convinced that belter main event last week woke up the entire company. Everything is suddenly on. Everything is suddenly geared towards giving you a great time again. Pure, happy, Raw-after-Wrestlemania energy all night long. MJF in the throne, Keith Lee launching men into orbit, Hangman Page doing a flip over the ref, Santana giving zero fucks about Chris Jericho and his shitty faction, Wardlow on the brink of murdering them all and CM Punk is the wrestler of the year in 2022. Good shit. It’s got to be said though. Remember whenever Big Show would win a title and the belt would always look comedically small when he held it? Adam Cole holding the AEW belt was the polar opposite. Fucker looked tiny. Jay White also appeared. Edited February 10, 2022 by Supremo Quote
Mr.Showtime Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Agree with all of the above! Keith Lee had the perfect debut. I was grinning from ear to ear and laughing joyfully at some of his feats. Private Party were perfect in that spot too. The fans also helped make it feel like a huge deal. Also laughing my arse off at the opening segment, just brilliant fun, and the finish of the main event was top class. Wanna mention Serena Deeb too, kicking off a fun little streak, I wonder who's gonna step up down the line! Quote
Winston Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 The roster continues to go from strength to strength. Jay White adds to the Bullet Club intrigue, especially when Omega finally comes back. Quote
Paid Members quote the raven Posted February 10, 2022 Paid Members Posted February 10, 2022 What great tv. I openly admit to not having a clue who Jay white is however if he has heat with omega from japan i can only guess the matches will be great? Keith lee debut was really good had a whiff of prime vader in that and thats never a bad thing. I will admit to openly smiling when mox music hit. hangman's vault? I had no idea how he was hitting his finish amazing stuff. All in all what a cracking show bravo. Quote
Infinity Land Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 First things first. Boardwalk Hall is the "Trump Plaza" site of WrestleMania IV & V? I'm surprised more wasn't made of this. Looked great on TV for me. MJF/Pinnacle celebration was a nice way to start the show. The earlier suggestion on this thread of Samoa Joe being CM Punk's mystery tag partner did have me a little more hyped during the intros for the FTR match. Especially as I think we'd had Keith Lee and Jay White appear at that point. Mox was brilliant though. I know thrown together singles stars vs. an established tag team can be a pet hate. CM Punk/Mox v. FTR though felt very different than the usual affair. You know all 4 guys wanted to work together and FTR/Tully got plenty of moments to shine. Inner Circle team meeting. I'm looking for it to be over. Maybe missing Eddie Kingston. Jay White. Planting seeds for Omega's return is more what that felt like. With Omega's twitter "feud" with Ospreay recently, its looking like Omega back in Japan might be his post-World title direction. Keith Lee was just fun. Private Party deserve a lot of credit for bumping around for him. Jade v. AQA was another good showcase of Jade growing into the dominant champion role. I can see Serena Deeb in matches against Thunder Rosa (1st title defense/attacking Thunder's students in the build) and Jade Cargill (Professor v. the ROTY). Those should be entertaining as hell. Hangman is such a loveable guy, but someone has to tell him that's not how you donate blood! The Blackout on the upturned steps gave me major Foley vibes. Quote
Guest Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I am knackered after ending up staying up and watching it all live, but that was a fantastic two hours of television when handsome Wardlow turns it’s gonna be bliss watching him smash spears while MJF watches in terrror. That MJF and punk have kept mentioning the title, but being unable to move on until they get rid of each other adds value to the quest for that belt. Well until we seen Cole try and drape it over his noodle arms to say he’s challenging next later in the show. If Keith Lee can wind in the smelling his farts a bit between moves he will run riot as he stands out from everyone. As soon as White appeared, new Japan tweeted advertising him for the next US show they have so not the breaking the door down move, but he is the first current headline guy that new Japan have sent to AEW so that’s a decent step forward. Best FTR match I have seen, and finally they made it their “80s” style heat and comeback match than pandering to whoever they faced style. jade finally defends on tbs, that will make some on here happy. Not sure I’d want to see who she’s faced back as looked pretty shit main event was a sprint and they showed Hangman to be double tough when shit goes down. He needs to be getting more first segment/ last segment on dynamite to show he’s the main man, than 4th/5th priority of the last month Quote

Paid Members Jazzy G Posted February 10, 2022 Paid Members Posted February 10, 2022 After hearing that heavily scripted sounding Sammy Guevara promo I think I'd prefer him wasting picture in picture time with the Bob Dylan shtick, although his spelling is atrocious so he can bugger off with them as well. Jay White turning up is interesting, especially with the G.O.D in the country as well. It's a bit weird that after Cole declared the thing with Best Friends is over that they're still seemingly dicking around with best friends, unless this is now a Bullet Club/Elite/Chaos thing with it being Rappongi Vice getting attacked. That tag match Friday should be good, but I'm sure Jericho will ruin it on commentary somehow. Isiah Kassidy make Keith Lee look like a monster. The last time I saw bumping like that was Shawn against Hogan, but this was done for the right reasons. Matt walking out like that has to mean Jeff is coming in? Moxley coming out to tag with Punk was very cool, until JR had to chime in with a "can they coexist?" every week AEW seems to slip closer and closer to becoming WWE instead of being prime WCW. The commentators had a rough night. Excalibur was talking about how CM Punk beat CM Punk last week at the start of the show, and JR was talking about how he loved the team of Dax and Harwood during the FTR match. Big pop for that Doomsday Device. Finally a TBS title match on TBS. Nothing quite like having your finisher kicked out of on your debut to make an impact. There were better ways for AQA to make her debut than this, surely? They tried doing too much and lost the crowd. Presumably somebody's going to beat her when she gets to 30? Serena Deeb is fantastic. She should have a title. The first count of the nit actually a Texas Death Match was a 9? Why do matches do this now? Where do you go to create more drama as the natch goes on if the first count of the whole match is a 9? Plus, does it not make Archer look a little stronger if he takes all of that and a buckshot at the start of the match then is up to his feet by 4 or 5? The idea of removing the top rope was a clever one. I never had any doubt that Page was winning, but they could have done a better job of making Archer look strong off the back of the match. Mind you he'll just be straight back off to Dark and Elevation now, so it doesn't really matter. Can't say I buy Adam Cole as a threat to Page's title either. Quote

RedRooster Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I thought that overall this was an excellent show, but this is the first time that I've felt the way that others have about Hangman's title reign...it's all a bit underwhelming. I don't think he's to blame, either. When Jericho was Champion, Dynamite felt like "his" show; same goes for Moxley, who had a phenomenal run as champ. Omega's run was divisive, but the company still felt like it revolved around him. Hangman feels like he just happens to be champion, and the match last night didn't feel special, or like it was anything different from what we'd see on an ordinary Dynamite. Don't get me wrong, it was a solid match - but they didn't do much to make it feel big throughout the show. I'm a big Hangman fan - just look at my avatar - but if anything, he feels less significant since winning the belt. A feud with Cole ties him in with his complicated relationship with The Bucks and Omega once again, so there's a chance that this might work well for him. But even if that's the case, once this feud is said and done (assuming he's still champion) they need to reassess how they position him on each show. Quote
