Can anyone brush up for me The White/Omega/Cole friends and enemies thing because I genuinely don't know and some of it seems deeply seeped in Bullet Club stuff.

So cole left when he went to nxt. Omega recruited Jay white who immediately turned on him and joined CHAOS whilst acting heel then eventually left and took over BC when Gedo turned on Okada. I don’t think they were in BC at the same time

Keep in mind that Keith Lee's been off the road since October it's no surprise he's heavier and not got quite the engine. I wouldn't be shocked to see him working most weeks to get ring ready.

Time's going to catch up with him inevitably but he's a relative giant in AEW and can afford to change up his style from what brought him to people's attention.

If his first loss isn’t to Hook after getting tossed about , its all been for nothing

The really simple version:

Underneath it all, Omega and the Bucks are decent guys who get carried away and behave like dickheads when they get full of themselves, particularly when egged on by their mates.

Underneath it all, Cole and White are actually dickheads, only out for themselves.

I disliked Jay White and his stupid Shia LeBeouf/Ted Cruz face for ages. He was a midcarder suddenly thrust into the main event that nobody really wanted him in, so he wasn't ready. And his work was good, but not great - he was running 'epics' that weren't actually epics. He was a guy we were told was special rather than being special. However, he was also young - he's still only 29. The last time I was watching NJPW, he was in that two-nighter main event against Okada and Ibushi, and I felt like he was finally actually beginning to deliver both in terms of carrying himself and delivering in the ring. His promo after was a little 'star pupil at drama school', but it was good as well (starts at 4:35).

If you'd asked me a few years ago, I wouldn't have given a shit about White joining AEW. Last year, I'd have given him a chance. This year, I think I'm pretty up for it.

There'd be layers of intrigue. Page is also a former Bullet Club guy so there'd be the conflict there where Jay White is the leader of Bullet Club and is trying to get Page to fall in line and Surrender the title while Page is saying it's all behind him, then you can bring in the Guerillas Of Destiny to add to it, and Page has odds to overcome and a personal conflict to resolve, which seems to be where he's been doing his best character work.

I hope they don't get too bogged down in the New Japan stuff. I don't mind light-touch references to it, but AEW has an awful tendency to assume knowledge. I feel like I've a vague awareness of certain New Japan wrestlers, but even with that in mind, I'm finding some of this stuff either difficult to follow, or difficult to care about.

Up until Jade I was ready to call this the best Dynamite I'd ever seen.

Hot segment after hot segment. A crowd eating it all up.

And then Jade happened. Bless her. She's got the look and all of that but she's hard to watch at times, especially against an unknown talent. Felt like it killed the room off.

Then a strange segment with Deeb - who I love - because I'd assumed that was a set up for someone else to debut and then it was some random. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

And the main event. The crowd were a bit off by that point anyway but it just wasn't an exciting combination. The blood isn't shocking anymore. And yeah a few nice spots but apart from that who really gives a shit? Poor Hangman.

So yeah, some really really good stuff and then went downhill a bit for me.

It's your typical heel squash challenge. I wasn't expecting anyone. Jade Cargill is coming up on her one year anniversary of wrestling.  Thunder Rosa is likely to be the next Women's World Champion and Rosa has a bunch of students. Do this Rookie challenge for a month and it could lead into a TBS title challenge at Revolution or being Thunder Rosa's 1st title defense.

Honestly, I was expecting Hikaru Shida in a mask, or something. I suspect Shida will be involved in the conclusion of this in some way, shape or form. Whatever the case, I'd love to see Deeb and Shida get one final match on the main Revolution card to conclude their series of matches; it's no less than they deserve.

I think Deeb/Shida will be a lights out type match or some sort of Submission Match. Don't think it'll be at Revolution.

I don't get the poor Hangman chat. I think half of it was deliberate 'I'm going to pick holes' because it was Archer after we had the Danielson matches having his 'Kane feud' apparently. It was a TV feud where while it seemed a bit predictable, in the long run it didn't matter. Anyone wanting Archer to win would just be Russoing themselves for the sake of feeling insulted. Only issue with the feud was actually that Kaz match from a few weeks ago that stopped time. Hangman pissing blood and being smart enough to find a way to smash Archer with the buckshot was the perfect fighting champion overcomes finish and a good cap off to a secondary feud to establish Hangman fights all.

Now he's gonna look like Kane next to Adam Cole.

Shida has gone back to Japan to work on her own projects, so could be away for a while. https://wrestletalk.com/news/aew-return-japan-hikaru-shida/

Jade's matches on Rampage have been fine. I wonder whether somebody else tried to produce this match and it was a bit much, or they were wanting to give AQA some shine for her debut, in which case book her against someone like Leva Bates who's got more experience and can carry her through a decent match.

I’m really surprised people are ragging on Hangman’s title reign now. Back when he was a boring, beige ghost, watching Danielson murder everyone, it was fair criticism. Now though? I think he’s starting to build some real momentum and the transition from troubled, anxious challenger to double-hard-bastard champion feels complete.

I know it shouldn’t make a difference but I think just being in the last segment of the show helped tremendously. The punishment he took, bleeding everywhere, winning in such spectacular fashion and then closing the show with a new angle and fresh direction? Perfect. This is my champion!

Still not sure about Adam Cole though. It seems crazy that he’s going to be the next in line at the exact time that MJF finally feels like a tippy top, main event guy. I’m assuming MJF is the next challenger after Cole. I can’t wait.

But yeah, Pinnacle recreating this meme? Spectacular.

If they keep things simple like with the Anna Jay and Julia Hart matches it would have been fine.

I'm not sure he will be - I imagine it'll be MJF/Wardlow, after the Punk match concludes. If MJF is to be the wrestler to dethrone Hangman, and personally, I'm all in favour of that; I'd be surprised if the match happened before the autumn.

Personally, I had no issue with the feud; but I do feel like AEW did a poor job making the match feel like a big deal, and that had a knock-on effect on Hangman (and Archer, for that matter).

I feel similarly about how they handled Punk and MJF last week. I loved the match, but I think they could have done a better job of hyping it throughout the show - whether it's through video packages, the announcers talking excitedly about what's to come, or even vox-pops from fans as they enter the arena, predicting who might win. Sometimes a graphic isn't enough, and little touches like that make all the difference to your perception of what's about to happen.

Oh and great news, Jericho is turning heel again, and he'll get that Influencer thing over, and in about 3 months we'll all love his new heel schtick. It's what always happens, the frustrating sod.

Ha! Say what you like about Jericho, but he knows the tide is shifting and has picked up on his lessening crowd reactions and is already adapting to it and preparing his heel turn before the crowds turn on him. In a months time he's going to be all in on this Influencer gimmick. He's a twat but his mind for wrestling is pretty incredible.
