Guest Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 Hat match was everything I wanted it to be. Hager had been the best definition of a good hand in his aew run. Whatever he’s done he’s made others look good at his expense. when I seen Matt Jackson do the failed buckshot it was PiP, though that’s funny, then they came back and it was the bite and the GTS. The Elite know how to push the buttons. Good on them after being assaulted at work. I don’t think there’s money in Punk coming back, their audience is their audience and it’s not gonna jump more than it had under Punk. We had a good year good for Hayter being made official. Renee is great at these kinda announcements. they got around my concern over Mox can’t physically go after Regal by having Danielson just straight say why he can’t. I don’t think mox is taking a break with Renee being new in role, think it was a throw away line taken a bit too seriously. His new aew/new Japan only schedule gives him a week off between shows. jericho and ishii did nothing for me. I find ishii boring as fuck. No matter who he’s in against. Jericho trying to get the most defences of the ROH title is a bit funny as it’ll annoy all its remaining hardcore if he does it Quote

If he was to return, it would be big bloody news. I do think we're going to get Bryan/MJF at some point. Perhaps Regal pushing the buttons with Bryan before he finally snaps. theringmaster Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 I hate CM Punk (always have) but i think him coming back to feud with the Elite would be best for business. Especially if they do the Hart/Micheals thing where they switch face/heel when they go to Chicago. WWE have been very good at swallowing their pride to bring back disgruntled ex-employees (literally this year with Cody), it will be interesting to see if AEW can. Quote

Omega vs Punk is still the biggest singles match they have in reserve in this company, not to mention whatever combination of The Elite vs Punk plus friends (FTR?). There is money to be made. We'll see. Quote

Probably not, that’s what those invested do. Quote

Anyway enough of CM Punk. He's not back and Kenny was probably just shithousing in the best way ever Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 Loved the shithousing, don't want Punk back. I'd expect them to go back to normal next week, guess we'll see if they continue to play it up. Quote

Wresting is meant to be escapism, shoot stories are always rotten. Aew needs to get back to being that fun place we see people enjoy working, Lance the Punk boil and heal things so we get more fun shows like last night was Quote

The closest thing would have been if the Paul brothers signed up. Since they actually have a large non-wrestling fanbase that could be tapped into. Punk returning would mean better business though. Take a sampling of those that would consider themselves AEW fans. Punk & FTR v. The Elite would be the top pick out of any Trios match. Punk v. Omega, v. MJF, and v. Hangman would probably be the winner of Wrestler A v. Top 3 potential opponents. There has been a dip in ticket sales since the Summer. Which wasn't all down to returning to the well too many times. PPV buys are likely to have peaked with shows Punk was on. Like the ticket sales that's not all him, but he's certainly been a boost than a drag in those areas. Quote
RedRooster Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 I don't think Punk is coming back, although I've always been one of the few that hopes that he does. Punk is out injured again, and the Elite are in an extended programme with Death Triangle. There's just too much time between Punk's return and this particular moment for it to feel connected. I'd love to see it happen, but I don't think it will. It was interesting to see a mixed response to Punk in Chicago, though. I really enjoyed the show, I thought it was the strongest Dynamite in a while. The opening segment was fantastic, and Regal's expression as Danielson defended him was just brilliant. The crowd were pretty obnoxious throughout, though. It left me feeling very optimistic about the pairing of Regal and MJF. While I enjoyed seeing Starks defeat Ethan Page, it left me feeling a bit sad about Page's current predicament. He's an incredibly talented wrestler, saddled with an awful manager, in an awful stable that just doesn't make me want to see him. I hope they call time on the failed Firm experiment soon. The wrestlers involved are all great individually, and they're better than this. The Ishii/Jericho match was excellent, and rose above the two things that would normally put me off Dynamite - ROH, and a New Japan wrestler who I know nothing about. That said, part of the reason I enjoyed this show so much was the fact it barely featured ROH. I'm really intrigued by the Swerve/Lee storyline, and Swerve is just generally phenomenal. His facial expressions and mannerisms are absolutely brilliant, he's so easy to dislike. It was also nice to see them group Jade back up with Mark Sterling. I really enjoyed them together, and they picked up right where they left off. Quote

There have been teases of disappointment with both Kiera and Leila. The final straw was apparently that Kiera wasn't there for the Bow Wow confrontation after the inability to get the TBS belt back for the past month. Quote
