I think it speaks to how lazy most writing in pro-wrestling is that this thing with Swerve and Keith Lee feels so exciting and interesting. It’s not even like they’ve done anything particularly revolutionary thus far. It’s more what they haven’t done.

99% of the time they’d have won the belts, started bickering, lost the belts, heel attacks the babyface, babyface never saw it coming, the fans don’t deserve an explanation, match at the pay per view, everyone moves on.

It’s ridiculous how fresh and subversive it feels to have the babyface know the heel is a prick the whole time, but he tolerates him because they’re successful, only to eventually reach a limit where the babyface turns on the heel, heroically walking out on him. And now rather than attempting to murder Keith, Swerve just wants a private chat? What the fuck is going on?!

I love it. Genuinely surprising story beats where you have no idea where it’s going. Genuinely interesting characters with complex motivations. The only thing I can think of that gave me that same sense of satisfaction was when the Usos forfeited that match against New Day during Kofimania.

I like that Swerve is being presented as sneaky, shady and manipulative rather than your typical wrestling heel. He should be the wrestling equivalent of Ashur from Spartacus. Proper slime ball.

Oh man, that’s an incredible pitch! “You fucking cunts” shirts would sell like fuck.

Why was Danielson dressed like a 12 year old in that segment? On his knees begging Mox...he looked like a right twat.

Overall a good week for both Dynamite and Rampage for sure.

My favourite thing was them lulling us into another groan inducing Best Friends/Factory/Danhausen segment but throwing out House of Black to fucking smash everyone instead. Quality swerving.

I can't believe how much of Danielsons star power has faded. I was expecting him to be a huge game changer when jumping to AEW, but outside of some good matches, he's done next to nothing of note, which to be fair, is probably his own choice. He mentioned recently he is winding down his career, which if is the case, it's a massive shame.

Signed up with AEW because he wanted to wrestle. So i'm not surprised he's done little of note outside of that. Got Kenny-Hangman-Mox early doors. There's been some moments before the BCC/JAS stuff dragged out.

The longstanding rumour was that he's wanted to work DEFY but TK held off on that until AEW debuted in Seattle (no excuses after Jan 4th). He's also wanted to work abroad. I can see him taking some non-AEW dates in 2023. Not quite last hurrah but to tick of some things on his wish list. In which case might as well still the All-Atlantic title on him at some point. Heel Danielson v. Orange Cassidy would be a decent match up for AEW.

The whole segment was a misstep for me. Loose cannon Moxley pausing to listen to a soliloquy on his way to confront the fella who just cost him a world title? Not sure why they'd want to neuter him like that.

If Regal can't take a bump, still no reason why he couldn't give Danielson a Paradigm Shift while Regal made his escape. BCC's whole thing is that they sometimes scrap with eachother, so it wouldn't even have to mean sustained beef between Moxley and Danielson.

Meh I liked it.

Mox was hardly neutered since he basically told Regal to fuck off before he killed him and Regal promptly fucked off.

More interesting than Danielson just kicking Mox in the bollocks.

Danielson and punk brought in at same time, one doesn’t give a fuck about being value for money, the other cared too much and fucked himself by getting carried away with that. Neither gonna make a long term difference now

Been thinking about this early this morning for some reason and although we all wanted it at the time, do you not wish the Wardlow turn on MJF was held off until MJF won the title?

This is with hindsight, by the way and I'm not saying the wrong decision was made at the time, but looking at what Wardlow has done since the split, imagine if they had held off on Wardlow turning and it led to him winning the belt off MJF eventually?

I presume that could potentially have been the plan anyway, but things kept putting it on hold, Kenny's injuries, Punks return, MJF contract situation (same time as the Wardlow turn, but things weren't great between him and TK for a while before).

Ah man, what ifs and wrestling go hand in hand.

I can’t say I do. Wardlow, like MJF, had suffered from a lack of serious single matches ringtime on tv until he turned and eventually went on the TNT title run. Even now he’s had few extensive competitive matches, mostly beating up Sterling’s scrubs in squashes. He’s not prepared at all for a world title run when you have a responsibility to make you both look good in longer matches.

I can see the argument but really the time was absolutely right for that Wardlow turn. The crowd were red hot for it and the Punk match was the absolute perfect place and it was perfectly executed.

Hasn't Regal said multiple times that he and HHH respect each others outside relationship too much to talk business while he's contracted elsewhere? HHH's tweet was merely playing on the meme of Regal screaming War Games, I would imagine.

Good old Dave.
