There are certain, otherwise very good, posters on here who aren't interested in if AEW is actually any good but seem to take umbrage at it's existence.

Most people are enjoying the Punk run. Some people want to talk about Tony Khan's jacket. It's a milder form of the internet, but it's still the internet.

Not a criticism of AEW and probably a conversation not just related to AEW, but on the back of the Andrade chat, how many of the wrestlers who were 'wasted' in WWE have gone on to prove their worth outside of WWE?

Andrade seemed like he could have been a mega star, Malakai Black also plus the countless others, yet have done nothing of note outside of a good debut (not so much in Andrades case).

I think a lot of it is these guys perceive themselves to be world champions and can often lose interest if that's not achieved right away (slightly unfair assessment maybe). Which is something they will struggle to find in AEW with the way the World Championship is treated, it isn't a 'hot potato' thrown around just to give people a turn.

Are there any that have actually achieved what people thought they should while being 'held back' in WWE? I'm not counting people like Danielson or Cole in that.

I can't speak for Aleister Black's run on the main roster as I'd stopped watching by then, but I much preferred his 'dangerous kickboxer who is a bit spooky' presentation in NXT compared to his 'it's not makeup, it's a demon trying to get out' rambling incoherent nonsense Bray Wyatt-esque bollocks he's doing in AEW right now.

Luchasauraus. FTR as well. It’s to early to say with Swerve or Keith Lee, but I agree with Black and Andrade as being no better then their WWE runs as of now.

I'd say there's a difference between being wasted and being wasted as a potential megastar.

I just looked at Malakai Black's and time stamps are like looking at AEW Dark or a series of DQs. Similar sort of story for Andrade.

Seems to me they prefer the indy headliner to feed their ego and the decent pay of AEW.

Malakai Black's run in AEW seems self-inflicted with his desire to do this House of Black storyline. Andrade has been limited by his promos but i'd say match wise there's been a quite a few memorable ones.

There are certain posters on here who are super sensitive to any negative discussion about AEW.

You and Houchen do gold standard work in Off Topic.

I don’t watch wrestling but can you link where I take umbrage at the existence of AEW?

I'd say that taking umbrage with its existence is probably misspeaking to be honest. I'd say you genuinely enjoy trolling and running a joke into the ground, to the point where even bringing it up feels passé.

I don't know, I guess I don't understand why you'd constantly take shots at a wrestling company, when you don't watch wrestling?

Examples of me taking shots at a wrestling company would be appreciated.

I don't think I've been universally negative about AEW, have I? I only watch bits and pieces here and there and look at the results. I get that most people have enjoyed Punk's return - and actually, so have I! I'm just not a huge fan of his Bret Hart match remakes, that's all.

Fair fucks Keith, on further investigation, I've conflated the constant digs at Tony Khan with sniping at AEW. I've really dropped the ball.

Weirdly I hadn't noticed Punk's recreations until they were highlighted here. Goes to show how passive I can be with watching the actual in ring stuff. I basically turn my head away from the work computer for entrances and promos.

Cheers, Russo.

Fair play. I’ve said before how despite not watching it, I do enjoy the positive posts about a wrestling show. It always used to be hate watching and I really enjoy reading where fans are fans and super enthusiastic and excited about it. It’s what got us all hooked (or HOOKed if you will) in the first place.
