I listened to his podcast interview on Two Bears One Cave yesterday and if you can stomach Bert Kreischer it’s a decent listen.  Nothing groundbreaking but it’s always a nice reminder that Cody might not actually be a cyborg. He rips in to his lovely neck tattoo and the regret of how it turned out as well which was a nice bit of self awareness seldom seen in top guys.

Just got reminded of this on Twitter and had to laugh - I can't even begin to tell you how fucking mad I was about this when it happened.

Penta was two weeks into his heel singles run, it was really exciting then Cody no sold his big move and pinned him and that heel run was immediately over. The funniest part was that after this match they ran an angle where QT Marshall actually injured Cody's arm and took him out. For all the people who call AEW stupid for letting Cody go you have to understand how terrible he was there. All this is funny as fuck in hindsight though.

If there is one thing I’ll give HHH props for it’s not allowing Cody to just do whatever he wants.

I'm really glad Cody recovered and had his big superhero run in WWE because I honestly think he deserves it a lot. But that promo is absolutely fantastic for watching the mask slip a bit and seeing arse. It's like the wrestling version of when Alan Partridge pierced his foot on a spiiiieeekke but still did the Dante's Fireplace awards. Just all over the place, utter bollocks and really brilliant.

I remember the reaction to this promo so well. Everyone was like "what the fuck is he going on about?" and "why did he just ramble a load of random bollocks and barely promote his upcoming match?". 

Then two weeks later he left.

It's his confidence on the mike and his turn of phrase that makes it work rather than the content, but it's bloody good. If nothing else it makes him look like a star.

Only thing I hated (and I really hated it) was him saying "turn heel". Enough with the fucking worked shoot bollocks already. There's a perfectly good kayfabe phrase, "turn on/betray the fans".
