The rule with body size in wrestling is really you can be any size and it'll work as long as 1) you have a character that fits your size and 2) you wrestle according to your size.

That's why for example Spike Dudley and Darby Allin can be skinnier and shorter than your Nan and works fine because they work their size. And why it's actually shit when jacked guys or fatties do moonsaults. 

Adam Cole is a perfect example of not wrestling to your size. He's a skinny short guy but wrestles how he wants to rather than as he should. As a babyface he should be the underdog, selling his arse off all match scratching and clawing his way to victory. As a heel he should be a sneaky little twat who stooges constantly. But he wants to be a big 5 star kickout high spots wrestler instead of what he should be and that's why he's shite.

To bring it back to Cody he also does spots that don't really fit his size or character but he does them because he thinks they're cool. They're not, they're shit. Just brawl and sell you numpty.

What especially bothers me about accounts like the one Scorch linked to is that they're not really worried about body image or shaming. It's just a good way for them to show that they don't like the wrestling company this guy comes from and said this (problematic) thing and get a few more follows. If they have #AEW or #WWE in their profile and not the other then you can pretty much disregard anything they're saying.

And I promised myself I wouldn't moan about Drainmaker in this post because I know you all love that guy, it's an early Christmas present to you all.

@d-d-d-dAz I think that’s pretty naive. Firstly you must not be aware of the Roman stan accounts. They are brutal about Cody! There are definitely AEW fan accounts who hate Cody, but the majority I’d say don’t care, especially after all this time.

Cody (in that interview) is really saying people can give him body shaming comments, but he’s saying this to wrestling fans, not exactly known for their tact or rationality. And we know prior to this the comments made about Samoa Joe, Keith Lee, Adam Cole among others. Call me soft, but seeing the damage that comments on people’s appearances have had who aren’t famous, and what happened with Han’s Kimura, I don’t think it’s something that should be encouraged, and not from the guy at the top of the company. 
 

Cody has been shown to be a great representative of WWE, but he’s also said some stupid things like this. Although this has overshadowed the other stupid thing he said in this interview about him being the leader of Bullet Club.

Do we? I'm pretty sure Drainmaker is an intern at AEW so his opinion is useless but he does post a lot of good clips.

I think if we've entered a world where we can't comment on wrestlers bodies, it's a real problem for the industry. It's not a real sport, it's entirely choreographed and based on presentation. 

If Cody Rhodes got massively out of shape, yet continued to present himself as he does, I think he's saying the fans would have a right to call him out. And i think that's fair.

The word 'bodyshaming' is loaded, but judging wrestlers on their presentation is the essence of the business.
