I find him false as I don’t believe a word that comes out his mouth. So quoting things he has said ain’t proving me wrong, cause I don’t believe his fibbing mouth. Sorry that’s so hard for you to grasp.

enjoy your evening, I’m done talking about someone I don’t like to indulge you any further

I adore the idea that Bryan Danielson played the longest, smartest game in the history of the business.

Pretending to not give a shit about backstage politics, pretending to be happy to lose to everyone, pretending to be willing to do any old shit scripted for him, spending countless hours pretending to be the nicest, most honest, articulate bloke, all on the smallest off chance that he’d be the one anomaly in the history of this business, where this approach - the complete opposite of everyone who’s ever succeeded - would somehow fluke him to the top. And then even when he reached the top he still kept the act up, wasting his time with shit like Drew Gulak matches, presumably just to avoid letting the mask slip.

I love Bryan Danielson but frankly, I’d like him even more if this whole thing was some bonkers, Machiavellian scheme. It’d be the greatest work of all time!

AEW did such a great job of elevating their own talent during the pandemic that it doesn't surprise me that well known faces from WWE coming has ruffled feathers. It only seems like a month or so we're back with crowds and two high-profile signings have come in for the 'challenge.' Well, what about the Dark regulars who've been plugging away for over a year trying to earn a living and get noticed? I get that bringing in huge names like Punk and Danielson is exactly the right thing to do to gain credibility and column inches. I just hope they can transfer that hype and momentum across the roster beyond the 'four pillars' they've earmarked. At the moment, Punk is cutting snippy in-jokes on commentary and Danielson seems intent on leveraging his Yes chant and talking about Kenny's balls.

So I was in NY last week for Arthur Ashe and went to the two GCW shows the following nights. First night after GCW I met and chatted with Marko Stunt for over an hour and that was focused on mostly music stuff. The second night however, Santana and Homicide enter the bar I'm in with some people, one of whom is their agent/manager guy. We're drinking until like 4am and chatting away - mostly normal stuff as I don't wish to bother them with wrestling stuff but the manager mentioned a few times that there is now growing concern among some AEW originals that the roster is getting too bloated and some are getting upset. That's all that was said, and I didn't probe on it.

You'd have to be a little pissed alright if you see them bringing in Bobby Fish next week for a TNT title shot, over the plethora of guys they already have at their disposal and who could do with a good showing on TV.

You mean like how Ricky Starks got a TNT match with Cody and ended up getting signed?

Vastly different eras of AEW you could argue, would be good to compare the roster size now to that time period. Bobby Fish hasn't set the world alight anywhere he's been and being in a faction with three far more talented people doesn't count. Ricky has future star written all over him so very different scenarios. When you have three hours of TV a week and can often go weeks without seeing PAC, Fenix, Andrade, Ricky and many others, and the spot is taken up by 44 year old Bobby Fish, then it's a little criminal.

It was June 2020. So they have probably signed 20 people since then and they now have double the number of shows a week.

I don't think Bobby Fish is one to worry about. At the moment its falling into the TNT open challenge model and there's no guarantee he's coming in full time. Or the likes of Cardona, Cage, and Juvi that came in for brief appearances.

Completely missing the point, 2 hours to 3 is not doubling btw.

Missing the point is actually you not knowing the difference between shows and the concept of time. They have 2 Network shows and 2 You Tube shows ever week. Before it was just Dynamite and Dark.

I think there'll come a time to prune the roster but I don't know that there's a problem. Financially, they use guys and girls who aren't signed to contracts and they allow their contracted talent to work outside which should mean a lower cost base. In terms of numbers, they do an excellent job of cycling people in and out on shows. Very few people seem to wrestle every week on the TV shows though all the big stars now seem to appear in some capacity on one or both of them. It's easy to forget they're still only 2 years (as of tomorrow) in as a TV show. Very few acts have been the same since the start of that and many have debuted during so there's very little staleness in general.

There has been a big change in the women's division since they debuted. Many of those originally working were the Japanese girls who hardly appear now, someone like Britt Baker is unrecognisable. Only Nyla Rose really feels like the same act as 2 years ago.

One the male side, some people have disappeared like Jimmy Havoc (RIP career) and Chris Daniels. A lot of the guys being used for jobs early on disappeared quite quickly and either aren't used or are dark acts or lackeys now. People like Pac, Trent, Kip Sabian, Lucha Bros, Hangman, one of the Bucks and Cody have all disappeared from TV for ages due to travel, babies, outside TV shows, etc. Janela and Kiss weren't on for ages either.

I can't think of an AEW "original" who is getting a raw deal. The four they are calling the four pillars, JB, Darby, MJF and Sammy are treated very well, even in defeat, are mixing it with the huge names and are talked about by every big name who has debuted recently. OC too, who should be in that group. The only one of that early roster not doing much is Frankie Kazarian and at this point in his career, I don't think that matters too much.

If I was having a clear out of the roster, the entire HFO including Matt would go. Might keep Private Party on their own but the rest aren't worth having. Brian Cage doesn't fit anywhere. Kazarian wouldn't be a loss. Lance Archer could be better served in WWE for me. There are others, like Avalaon and Luther and the like but they're cheap and don't cross my sight much.
