Negative awards

RedRooster’s posts are spot on and its disappointing to see push back against them. Surely no one is so amused by the Dolt of the year poll that they’d want it to remain at the expense of someone’s health?

I always assume I'm a sure fire for a negative award and my mental states well known and I'd say keep them.

People on here give huge concession on that side, more than anywhere else I post or view, and are very accepting and open, it's the most tolerant & patient place I post.

If you can't take that as good humour or a nudge to back off posting so much shit how are you going to cope the other 364 days or anywhere less tolerant than here.

Annoying posters get banned and rejoin every day (Hi Boydy!), I can't see a child winning an award here either as I think the youngest member here is about 35 these days. We specialise in WWE demographics.

I am 32 actually.

I've never followed the awards but I'd be curious to see how many have won the dolt award and then gone on to be a decent poster and that the award gave them the kick up the arse to stop being disruptive. If that's not been happening then it's pointless having them because no good's come of it and you could solely warn and then ban members if needs be.

In fact, in regards to what RedRooster said, even if someone has become a better poster from it there's a decent chance there will be users who will take that voting on a public forum in a worse way. The award might be entertaining to those who keep dossiers on different users but it seems naff from my, and evidently others', perspective. It's not worth having.

The popular posters pick on the less popular posters in a highly controlled environment. So kind of bullying 101.

I've been reading this forum for last 17 years or so but only just joined as a poster and I'm not interested in the awards posts but have witnessed people get bullied by the 'cool' kids many Many times. And when the 'dolt' tries to make a come back he is constantly reminded of his past failings and treat unfairly.

But if Butch, Keith and the gang enjoy these awards then they will continue. To the point the guy who started this debate got questioned as to whether 'random thoughts' was the best place to post his random thoughts.

As you were.

But this thread is about random thoughts about wrestling, not the forum in general. That goes in the off-topic section or better yet still, the Awards section.

Especially considering what the poster was saying, it was blunt. It's posted in the wrong place but it's hardly the most pressing thing given what was being talked about. Just a friendly reminder that this thread's one for on-topic discussion and that having someone move the thread to the relevant place would do. Like how you might interact with someone you don't know in real life.

If it was such a big issue you'd think the moderator who liked that blunt comment might move it themselves.

As it is, it should be moved as it will derail this thread (like I'm doing now) but no need to be a dick about it.

I really appreciate the support @NavigatorFan and but I do feel like I want to defend @Keith Houchen, altthough clearly I disagree with him on this.

I was really struggling with my mental health earlier this year (which is why I have a strong opinion on this) and nearly left the forum. Keith was one of a group of a group of posters who weren’t only supportive, but they gave me the encouragement and confidence I needed to actually talk to my GP. I found it almost impossible to talk about my mental health with friends in the real world.

I stand by my opinion on the awards, but as anyone who reads the mental health thread will attest to, Keith is a brilliant guy with a shit-tonne of empathy.

I mean, clearly I think he’s wrong here but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m massively grateful to him.

Cheers Rooster, as mentioned I think the mods and posters can spot when someone needs some help and someone who is an arsehole. I guess for newer members it can be difficult to gauge but I think we have a good handle on seeing when someone is having a hard time and is posting out of sort.

It isn't though. This discussion has nothing to do with wrestling. This is the on topic forum. If anything, this should be a thread of its own in off-topic. It's clearly something people want to talk about it, hiding it away in here doesn't make any sense.

Dunno why I've been dragged into this, but fine, my mother always said empty vessels make the most noise, so I'm about to make myself the Marie Celeste.

To be honest, I don't think I've been a popular or cool poster here in years, and my posting is mainly kept to Cricket and football. But if you can post a link to me actively bullying someone in the past 18 months, that's actually bullying as opposed to just being the dour miserable moaning fuck with people I have become, I will put my posting to a paid vote.

In the past I have indeed been a total and utter pipe on here (The way I treated Triple A (Felatio Lips) about 10 years ago is something I'm still disgusted about to this day) but since about 2016 or so its the friendliest this forum has ever been.

For example. Over the 17 years you've lurked here for Moj was wishing cancer on all and sundry, members have harassed women with dick oms and asking for side boob, and doxing was a regular thing (cost me two jobs by the way). But me and Houchen are the worst? Moreover, if you've lurked here for 17 years why did you only join in January of this year (so not only just) if you don't like the cut and thrust of here and think it's overrun by a "gang" of cool bullies (pCc 4 life)?

As regards @Keith Houchen  - He has done more on this forum for people in states of distress and duress than I'm going to assume you have done personally for anyone on this forum. I don't want to speak for him, but even for people he dislikes he has been a font of knowledge and more importantly a shoulder to cry on  - you've just seen your arse because he's put you in the picture during a former account you've had. Anyone who has a clue about Keith would know he's nowhere fucking near a bully. Online and off, he's always done what he can to better others - sometimes at his own suffering. Call me a cunt all day, but from my experience of the man I'd happily wager he's several times the human being you, or most people for that matter, are. If anything a lot of the enlightened attitude of the UKFF over the past few years has actually stemmed from him, his strong morals,  half a lung, and good heart. Call me a cunt, prick, arsehole, whatever and I'd agree. But he's good fucking people.

But yeah, if I've bullying I will fall on my sword and go to a vote (paid only as this forum costs moo a pretty penny. Join and use your democratic power!) as I can't be arsed much these days. Life's too short to argue about wrestling online.

Lord Mountevans lived too long, and fuck being like he was. I never want to be the cunt that man was (is).

My concern is, I think, that depression in itself is a hidden illness, you don’t necessarily know when someone is dealing with it. I’d be very surprised if any of my real world friends even had an incline that I’m dealing with it.

So you could have someone nominated for one of these awards who objectively is a dolt, but they just happen to be a dolt who has depression.

From my experience of the illness, during a down spell my brain isn’t looking to view things rationally, it’s looking for things that agree with the negative view my depressed self gets of my own worth. So something like a negative award would very much be a ‘See? Told you so.’ for my depressed mind and would certainly send me on a downward spiral.

I can’t imagine I’m alone in feeling that way, and that’s why I think the awards are a bad idea. Not only do you have a democratic vote to tell you that a lot of people agree that you are what you fear you are, but you have the nomination process where a lot of people explain their vote giving you actual reasons.

I’m conscious of going round in circles here, but I did want to clarify and explain my points/concerns.
