Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted August 8, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 8, 2021 Saved by the rain. Assuming they'll keep the same team for the next match or drop Sam Curran now that he's played one test in a row, like they usually do. Great to hear Mel Jones doing a test. Her and Mikey Holding in a commentary box together is the best pairing in the game right now.
The Curious Orange
After today I honestly don't think we are far off James Vince getting a recall and them trying him as an opener Ramprakash-style
Tamura
The club I'm involved with played a cup final at the weekend against Hoylandswaine, which may be a small village outside Barnsley with an estimated population of less than 1,000 people, but thanks to a sugar daddy bankrolling the cricket club they tend to put out an All-Star XI (compared to the average village cricket team). Their captain is Arron Lilley who currently plays first-class cricket for Leicestershire, and also in the team are Shakeel Ansar (played T20s for Pakistan), Muhammad Azharullah (played first-class for Northants), and the slightly lesser known Chris Holliday, who was praised as well as criticised for smashing 316 not out in a 30 over match. After a glorious day's cricket with momentum swings both ways, we prevailed. Match review and photos here, if anyone is interested.

The stuck up cunts up Hoylandswaine make my stomach turn...
Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted August 17, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 17, 2021 Will Hales ever get a chance with the bat again for England in red ball cricket. I'm sure we'd all agree he's atoned for the Coke by now, to see that talent go to waste is starting to piss me off.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted August 17, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 17, 2021 He's not even allowed back in the white ball sides, so how's he going to break into the test team?
The Curious Orange
It's a bit of shame as I reckon Hales at his best is slightly better than Jason Roy. But if he didn't get a call up when they needed an entire new one day squad last month, doubt he ever will again They've settled Roy with either Bairstow and Buttler in white-ball forms and will probably just go with one of Salt, Banton, Vince as cover in a squad now to avoid the hassle of a recall I don't think he's played any red ball cricket for years now, but it would be interesting to see how either Roy or Hales would have done at 5 or 6 in tests instead of trying them as openers.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted August 17, 2021 Author Moderators Share Posted August 17, 2021 An absolute masterclass by Livingstone tonight. I fully expect him to be called up to the test team and his career ruined.

Paid Members Cod Eye Posted August 18, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2021 They have to try something. Have we ever had a worse top 3(or even a worse batting line up in general)?
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted August 18, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2021 I'm still all for sticking Bairstow and Roy up there and giving it a whack, ODI style. What's the worst that could happen? They've tried practically every opener in the country and they all failed.

If he can get his head out of white ball mode, he's got the ability, that's for sure. YJB should still have the gloves instead of Buttler for me though. I don't think I've seen a player scream "white ball specialist" more than he Buttler, so he should just stick to that. I'm a bit out of touch with the County game at the minute. Are there any wonderkids coming though to get excited about?
