d-d-d-dAz Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 I haven't watched anything in weeks, not even Instagram Reels... Cena/Punk piqued my interest, but the minute Rollins came out I strained a muscle rolling my eyes so much. I think I'm out, until someone I trust tells me that it's actually good again. A company built around Seth Rollins couldn't be less for me. Quote

What a loser. Triple H's vindictive trolling of Punk will be written about one day. Giving him everything he ever dreamed of, but just making sure it was all served in a succession of poisoned chalices, which he has to suck from publicly. Edited June 10, 2025 by d-d-d-dAz Quote

Paid Members RedTwoster Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 Our tastes all change as we get older, and interesting to see that CM Punk has acquired the taste of ‘blood-money covered dick’, after being so vehemently opposed to it a few years ago. Unfortunately I have not, and I won’t be watching his match with John Cena as a result. It sounds like it was a good show on the whole, and the ‘Ron Killings’ stuff sounds interesting, if a bit too fourth-wall breaking for my tastes (and also, why have him go after Cena then have both men ignore one another?) But I didn’t watch it. I’m tapping out until after Night of Champions. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 Hey, I've got to hand it to the guy. Selling out when you're in your 40s is an incredibly punk rock thing to do. Quote

d-d-d-dAz Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 (edited) I'll have a billion pounds with anyone that he's dry cleaning his Palestine coloured gear as we type, and if asked he'll say he's doing it as a show of solidarity with the Arabic people. I don't even mind wrestlers taking the Saudi cash. Whatever. I'm not convinced it's the job of wrestlers to police global politics if they're just trying to get paid in an unstable industry. But if you put yourself out there on an issue like this, you have to have the courage of your convictions surely? I can ignore the Wrestlemania Night 1 stuff as that's all wooly nothingness based on silly grading of wrestling events, but this is absurd. Edited June 10, 2025 by d-d-d-dAz Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 (edited) Yeah he's going to be mocked and criticised for it and rightfully so. I'm sure some people will try and defend it but I don't know why you'd even bother. It's all pretty funny and, if you've been paying any attention at all to CM Punk over the past few years, incredibly predictable this (or something like it) was going to happen. Let's all just laugh at him and move on. It's a real tragedy though that the last ever CM Punk/John Cena match is going to be the soulless, washed and tired shell CM Punk vs the most boring heel in history John Cena in blood-money bought Saudi Arabia in front of fans who don't really give a fuck. Edited June 10, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote
digforvictory Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 (edited) I'd say it's impossible to defend, although I'm sure his hardcore fans will try, and he's brought it all on himself. You can't tweet go suck a blood money covered dick at someone for wrestling in Saudi Arabia and then 5 years later end up wrestling in Saudi Arabia on the same sportswashing shows and not expect people to bring it up and mock you. There's a big list of stuff CM Punk has moaned about only to turn around and hypocritically do himself but this one feels particularly funny. Edited June 10, 2025 by digforvictory Quote

I can ignore the Wrestlemania Night 1 stuff as that's all wooly nothingness based on silly grading of wrestling events, but this is absurd. Pretty much sums up how I feel. I can understand why you might do it; particularly when you consider how happy WWE is to sack off even the most tenured of wrestler. But they’re not going to sack Punk. He could get away with saying no to this. And his comments made it clear that he’s aware of why the shows there are problematic. You mention the courage of his convictions - by wrestling there, he’s clearly demonstrated that he’s lacking one of the two. 8 minutes ago, LaGoosh said: It's a real tragedy though that the last ever CM Punk/John Cena match is going to be the soulless, washed and tired shell CM Punk vs the most boring heel in history John Cena in blood-money bought Saudi Arabia in front of fans who don't really give a fuck. Yeah, even if you ignore the political side of this, it’s a bizarre place to run the match. Money in the Bank made sense given it’s where their most famous match took place. Summerslam would have made sense because it’s a blockbuster match. Chicago would have been even better, although I’m not sure if any shows are taking place there on which it could happen. It’s pissing away something good, though. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 Maybe Phil could ask Jordan Henderson for some tips when he puts his statement out. Saw an R-Truth promo on Facebook this morning. Absolute Vince Russo 101. Vince will have fucking loved it. In his defence, Ron has always had a great promo voice. I can't get over how absolutely spawny this company is though. They release a guy. There's a backlash, so they bring him back immediately and get everyone talking. Then they pretend it was all a work and a good enough portion of people fall for it to start defending them online. Then they do the Russo special and the crowd absolutely eats it up. They've now got a fairly hot feeling 53 year old bloke over with their audience, who was a jobber about 2 weeks ago, I believe. I'm sure they'll kill it soon but it's bafflingly fortunate and you've got old Tripper sat there taking credit for it as "all part of the show". Jammy fucker. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 Gunther winning the belt back, I didn't see coming, with Rollins being on their show and having the briefcase. My theory - fear? - is that they're so committed to Rollins as the new big bad, his cash in will either be to foil Cody and walk out with the belt when the eventual Cena vs Cody rematch happens, and either insert himself into the match as a triple threat and win the title directly from Cena in an unimaginative repeat of Mania 31 or cash in on a victorious-but-battered Cody in the same old shit they always do, with a view to Rollins vs Cody again for the title at Mania 42. Imagine - in 5 Manias since coming back, Cody would have wrestled 6 matches total involving Rollins in 3 of them, Reigns in 3 of them and only one involving neither! Quote
The King of Old School Posted June 10, 2025 Author Posted June 10, 2025 Cody clearly winning KOTR to face Cena at Summerslam then. Seeing as Cody got the pin at MITB, for me the more logical way would have been to have Cena/Cody at NOC, and if Punk is going to Saudi anyway then have him win KOTR and face Cena at Summerslam. 5 minutes ago, air_raid said: My theory - fear? - is that they're so committed to Rollins as the new big bad, his cash in will either be to foil Cody and walk out with the belt when the eventual Cena vs Cody rematch happens, and either insert himself into the match as a triple threat and win the title directly from Cena in an unimaginative repeat of Mania 31 or cash in on a victorious-but-battered Cody in the same old shit they always do, with a view to Rollins vs Cody again for the title at Mania 42.
