WHAT PLAY YOU!? Version 3.0

Yeah that's exactly what I expected after the previews and with all the shite surrounding the development. I wish they'd go back to basics and make a smaller game again like Asylum, but WB are cunts and just want that live service cash now.

Finished Infinite Wealth . Took around 60 hours.

Gameplay is great and it starts off strong but other than a few highlights, I thought the story fell off a cliff, after a while.

I couldn't wait to get it over with.

Spoiler

Bryce is easily the shittest villain in the entire series.

Still a lot of fun to be had with the side content and the combat is incredibly fun, so no a complete write off.

Was waiting for the Kiryu/Haruka reunion for the entire game and even completed all of his side content to see it happen and nope he changed his mind at the last second!

After really enjoying my replay of Dead Rising 2 I decided to give 4: Frank's Big Package a go and holy shit they've butchered my silly, colorful and funny game into a generic third person shooter where everything is in darkness.. what the hell?

You can't even save survivors in the same way and the psychopaths are now boring dudes instead of being over the top characters. I did a little reading and apparently it was never meant to be a Dead Rising game and was originally a totally new IP, it really shows.

Aye, it feels like a mobile/spin off game given to a young, inexperienced developer. Gutted everything that was whimsy and insane about Dead Rising's mechanics, banged a "LOL CHRISTMAS! LIKE DIE HARD!" skin on to it and called it a day.

I've started Alan Wake Remastered. It's kind of fun in a cheesy way. The title character is such a massive prick it's actually hilarious to watch. Just a moany, miserable bastard to literally everyone. I have no idea if him being such an arsehole was intentional by the developers or not but I'm enjoying it for sure.

As usual, I'm massively late on this but but I started playing Dredge yesterday and it's tons of fun.

The atmosphere and music is just perfect with the daytime being some care free bliss and the nights being sinister and eerie. The game days pass so quickly and the urgency really ramps up as the daylight starts to fall.

I probably played for 4 hours yesterday and I feel like I did too much exploring early on and missed a few early quests. I also feel like some of my boat research has been miss-used so I'm contemplating restating the whole thing.

£18 well spent and I can see me sinking many hours into this.

Dredge was one of my favourite games of 2023, and I'm glad to see you finding it! I don't really like horror all that much, but it was a nice balance of dread and not-dread.

There is an area later that can completely get to fuck though. Hated it.

Speaking of horror I finally started The Evil Within today after throwing DR4 to the side, it really is the Resident Evil 5 we never got, isn't it?

I really need to pick this up the next time it’s on sale. I’ve really enjoyed the Resi remakes and hadn’t really expected to and I’m hungry for something similar.

I couldn’t get into the first Evil Within as it can only be played in widescreen, I should give the 2nd a go though, they’re both free with PS Plus extra.

They patched out that weird screen stuff, you can now choose to disable it and lower the film grain.

The Evil Within is about half as good as Resi 4, so it's a good time! It has a lot of flaws and the most weirdly unfit (even by horror games standards) protagonist ever, but it has a lot of style and a bit of the old Mikami magic shines through. There's a lot of nice nods towards the classic RE games too.

The second one is crap, unnecessary open world parts and side missions, ugh.
