Looks like Blackburn have a Tory led Council by the sounds of the article. They'll love that with their multicultural community. Edited May 7, 2021 by jazzygeofferz
Moderators PowerButchi Posted May 8, 2021 Moderators Share Posted May 8, 2021 (edited) God knows how Labour have won 30 seats in the senedd, giving them 50% of them, but they fucking managed it. A gain from last time! With the 10 plaid have that could be a decent coalition. Edited May 8, 2021 by PowerButchi
RedRooster
It’s so fucking deflating. Brexit (unless you ignore it, like many voters apparently did) has shown us how difficult Scottish independence could be, but honestly, I’m past caring. I’d rather deal with the initial problems and struggles that may bring than the seemingly unending run of lies, corruption, cronyism and weaponised hatred brought on this country by the Tories. I really hope the Scottish election gives us the independence supporting SNP/Green majority that we need to make a second independence referendum a majority. I’m genuinely gutted for all the non-Tory voters in England, having to face up to the reality of what these results actually mean for them. Sexy Dad
I’m very pleased that Welsh Labour kept most of the seats of the Senedd in North East Wales. I was very deflated to learn that my constituency went Conservative (by a few hundred votes) but for so much of the rest of the area to vote Labour despite voting Tory in the general election is heartening. Mark Drakeford has had his critics, mostly from people that want to listen to the PM - and this election has been a ringing endorsement for devolution and Welsh Labour’s handling of the past year. If Drakeford can now make a case for additional devolved powers and try and steer away from being associated with what is basically a dead UK Labour Party - he might even begin to appease the most firm independence supporters somewhat.  Edited May 8, 2021 by Sexy Dad
Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted May 8, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted May 8, 2021 (edited) So what's needed here? Is it a new Party, with left leaning centrist approach. Is it a left of centre but right of socialist (now a dirty word) party. Or is it just a left wing party that doesn't go so far left when it comes to "liberal" views that clearly have no appeal to the working class families throughout the country? I'm really struggling to see anyone in the Labour Party that offers strong opposition that would also appeal to the electorate any more. Starmer has shot his load and won't win shit as he's proven to be weak. But the whole party appears weak. It needs someone to grip it and openly call Boris a cunt. Piers Morgan is the biggest of all the cocks, but if he were to offer opposition he'd have a better chance than anyone in the Labour Party. That's where we are now isn't it? A left leaning centrist celebrity who'll openly call Boris a cock womble, that's our hope of ending this Brexit fist shaped grip on the country. Ugh. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted May 8, 2021 Moderators Share Posted May 8, 2021 I think that's an unimaginative take on the options available and you should read the discussion in the Brian Rose thread for a better take on both the problem and the solution. Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted May 8, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted May 8, 2021 For clarity, I just meant any left leaning celebrity willing to call Johnson a cunt, not Piers Morgan.

The "loveable rogue of Boris" that the national fell for doesn't matter, Theresa May and David Cameron won an election. I reckon the snivvely odious cunt that is Gove would get in too. The opposition is weak, flaccid in fact, it's in no way a representation of the electorate ... At all. The vast swathes of voters care not about what the Tory twat in charge is called or named in the media. The opposition has step the fuck up, the left needs to get stronger, leave the liberal leanings to one side for a time on concentrate on how to affect the electorate to come round. Labour is dead, as a member it's heart wrenching to watch.
