Kfogg1991 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Well this was one of the worst smackdowns in a while. The women's chamber qualifier was terrible, it seemed a running theme in the majority of the matches but pauses before a spot or altercation that made it seem like a lagging video game, shocking exchanges and repeated feelings of not knowing what's next with eyes wide open destroyed the chances of it not being Alexa winning A ten man tag match....why would this be what you land on especially for the team not the MFT's Jade Vs grace Car crash again from jade 100 days as champion and that being your first defence screams a reliable/trustworthy champion The main event was so close to delivering a result that would have shocked everyone and given a positive response I believed Sammi was doing it after drew came and attacked both Cody AND Jacob....... Nope Cody kicked out and cross roaded his way to disgust/disappointment and distain from everyone and everywhere online It's fairly obvious he's winning the chamber and drew at mania and there's not one person that is happy with drew Vs Cody 800 at wrestlemania and make it special/exciting or fresh This road is more dirt track that's pot holes and hurdles to the end the card for mania has potential to be received negatively and with no buzz or usual excitement and I don't see them fixing it Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted February 14 Paid Members Posted February 14 I thought the show was fine? I certainly didn’t leave it thinking it was as bad as you both did. 32 minutes ago, Ralphy said: Its shows like this that make me realise why a lot of people are not buying tickets for mania and not just because of the cost I think it’s a combination of factors, but I genuinely don’t think show quality comes into play - not that I think that’s been an issue for them recently, things have been decent. Cost certainty doesn’t help, but combine that with ICE and stories about people being denied entry to the States for being critical of Trump and you have a perfect storm of bad circumstances - why would you risk spending that much money on a ticket only to be denied entry? If you’re a person of colour it must feel particularly unsafe to even consider visiting the States right now, and that’ll also play a factor. Tourism is down across the board in the US, even for places like Disney World, and WWE isn’t going to be immune to that. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 There's been far worse episodes. I don't think it was a world crashing down end of the world MANIA IS GOING TO BE TERRIBLEEEE!!! episode by any stretch. I also don't think Cody is anywhere near that level of hate yet at all. They're obviously still figuring stuff out and not really knowing what they're doing and that's the main issue. And without Dwayne around to blame this time, it all comes down on the man who oh so desperately wants to avoid the spotlight. Next few months will be very interesting to see what he pulls out of the bag. They've got the talent. They need to get back to basics and stop operating like they were during the invincible stage. That's really not where they are now. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted February 15 Paid Members Posted February 15 (edited) Imagine being so hyperbolic that even I’m telling you to wind your neck in! It was a completely fine episode. The only legitimate criticism you could raise was how blindingly obvious it was that being on Syfy rather than the usual USA Network resulted in them pumping the breaks and putting out a mostly filler episode. Yet another example of how little they think of their own audience. “Morons won’t know how to use the remote control to find us for the next two weeks, stick ChatGPT on, “auto-book!” It remains a fascinating time though. For better and for worse everything feels in flux and it’s impossible to figure out where things are going. Probably because they don’t know themselves. Wouldn’t be shocked if Drew loses his smile next week. At the very least, it’s better than last year’s Road to Wrestlemania, where they had firmly-held, long-term plans, but they were mostly shit, all leading to crap multi-man matches. Clearly, the scenic route can be more enjoyable, even if no-one has a fucking clue where we’re going. Biggest headline is that Sami Zayn is now officially the biggest loser on Smackdown, and that’s on a show that features Rey “Velocity,” Fenix. What a fucking chump. Spent years moaning about never winning the Big One…lost again at the Royal Rumble…then couldn’t even win this Main Event with Drew helping him! Jesus Christ. Wildly disrespectful graphic placement before the match, too. Made it look like they were censoring Sami’s tits! Is his contract due or something? Has AJ Styles told him how much Tony Khan is offering? Has Ciampa leaked that you get an extra two hundred grand if you graduated NXT Black and Gold? If this wasn’t a complete burial of someone on their way out then I can’t fathom what they were thinking. Sami Zayn is dead coming off this show. Leave the memories alone. Leave the tits censored. The King of Old School Posted February 21 Posted February 21 There isn't a Drew 1 on 1 match that sounds appealing enough at Mania for me, a triple threat with Cody and Fatu would be ok, but I hope the WWE title match is some crazy 5 way match with Drew, Cody, Fatu, Orton and Sami going at it. Not sure how they get there without it making the Chamber looking pointless though. Quote

Not sure how they get there without it making the Chamber looking pointless though. I think you've the PLE main for after Wrestlemania there but not night 1. I actually am expecting a complete pivot now, where someone like LA Knight wins at the Chamber because Rhodes gets bumped off by Fatu and Randy gets screwed and ends up snapping and going heel against Sami to flesh out 3 singles matches over the 2 days. TheScarlettChad Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I see Sami turning heel now. It'd be awful but WWE can't help themselves. Quote
Doog Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Sami as a heel is the next natural arc for his character. He's worn thin as a baby face anyway, and hes come up short so many times now his frustration makes sense from a story perspective. The turn would be similar to Drew in a sense, in that, as with hiw segment with Cody this week, he kinda has a point. If he turns soon there's still plenty of time for him to turn back in time for WrestleMania next year if they want to, with it being in Saudi, though to be fair the reaction to him was hardly earth shattering at the Rumble. We'll see, his underdog babyface character is tired now, and hes not believable enough to play a tough guy face, so a heel turn will do a lot for him and he can play the Daniel Bryan type heel. Just keep him away from the main stories, around US Title level is perfect for him. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted February 21 Paid Members Posted February 21 Remember when Sheamus was fast tracked on the main roster and won the WWE Title a few months in? Trick Williams has charisma Sheamus could only dream of. Trick Williams is a level of over Sheamus could only dream of. Trick Williams is the fucking man. Do a crazy multi-man WCW Triple Cage or something if you’re that desperate to save the Night One Main Event, but who needs to be walking out with that belt is no longer in question. Trick Willy and his Lemon Pepper Steppers. Quote
Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted February 21 Paid Members Posted February 21 I've enjoyed his work so much more without Booker T making me irrationally hate hearing his music. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Sami shouldn't be turning heel because his face journey should've been much stronger and I do genuinely believe he could've been a main title holder. But in his current condition where they're blatantly not going to take him there? Sure. Why not. Cant be any worse than how they're wasting him at the moment. I quite like the idea of a Bryan-like title obsessive turn. At least he'd have something decent to do. It's not like he can't be heel. I'm good with anything that means they use him better at this point. Quote
BarryOVega Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I think a heel turn would be great for him, when he turned years ago to join up with Owens people thought it was inconceivable turning the lad who was such a beloved pure babyface as he’d been in NXT and the slightly watered down one he was on the main roster but he was a revelation As mentioned he’d have genuine reasons to be bitter enough to turn heel, surely it’d end up with him having one last babyface run as well, no doubt putting over whoever the heel champ is at that point in Montreal Quote
