Paid Members Supremo Posted January 13 Paid Members Posted January 13 Meltzer reporting the decision to put the belt on Drew has resulted in the Mania card getting completely reshuffled and Cody vs. Roman 3 is likely no longer happening. On the surface, it’s definitely a positive. Fresh, new, interesting directions is exactly what this company needs. Best case scenario is this means we finally get Cody vs. Punk, which still feels like the one true dream match they’ve not yet done. Worst case scenario is more Triple Threats at Wrestlemania. Funniest scenario? He’s back. He’s ketted up to the eyeballs and they’re going to pour a bottle of piss all over Hunter’s Mania plans for the third year in a row. Quote

Seen him suggest it might be Drew vs Cody vs Fatu for the WWE title at Mania. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Pretty sure anyone could've made that suggestion if they watched. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) Someone's wondering if they can return Joe Hendry for a refund because they dont need him anymore. Edited January 16 by DavidB6937 Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted January 16 Paid Members Posted January 16 An enjoyable enough show, although the Wyatts and MFTs feuding over a lantern is as daft as Bo Dallas’s sudden adoption of an English accent. I quite liked his stable at one point, and his performances but my goodness, this lives up to the worst parts of Bray Wyatt’s legacy as a character. It seems very likely that Sami is going to win the four-way, so that he can lose to McIntyre in Saudi Arabia, much as he did to Roman Reigns in Montreal. I hope I’m wrong, he’s possibly the only male performer in WWE I feel emotionally invested in winning a world title (on the women’s side, I’m invested in Chelsea winning the big one). And talking of Chelsea, pitting a not-over Jordynne Grace against her was a bit of a mistake. She obviously won’t beat Jade, but if she’s to get over, a heel turn surely has to happen. Talking of people who need to turn heel - Cardona absolutely should, and I’m sure he will sooner rather than later. Leon Slater was very impressive in his match against Hayes, and I can only assume WWE have strong interest in signing him to be using him as prominently as they are. And rightly so, he’s brilliant. I liked the Drew/Cody/Fatu stuff threaded throughout the show - it’s one thing I’d like to see AEW do more of, ongoing storylines make a show feel more exciting if they’re done well. This wasn’t any better than decent, but it didn’t have to be anything more than that when you know the Rumble is on the horizon. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 17 Paid Members Posted January 17 A really good show for my boys. Drew finally getting the big moment. The real belt. In front of a big crowd. With the huge, ridiculous Erika Kirk pyrotechnics. Get in, Drew! Good for him. Jacob Fatu seemingly dropping all the awkward babyface tropes that plagued his original turn last Summer, finally feeling like a scary, wild nutcase again. Good to have him back. Sami Zayn finally on a proper quest for the belt. About three years too late, but it truly feels like it might happen this year. Just in time for Kevin to return and take it from him. And of course, Kit Wilson stealing the whole fuckin’ show. I must have watched that bit where his music comes back on at least fifty times. Fantastic. Genuinely chuffed for him. Such a tough spot when you’re in a tag team and your partner needs major surgery. Buzzing to see him breaking out as a singles. Yes boy! This whole time, I couldn’t see what Matt Cardona could provide as a WWE Superstar in 2026, but he’s very quickly proven exactly where he belongs and what he can deliver - jobber loser, butt of the joke. He should job clean to Kit Wilson next week. With Kit’s music restarting every time he struts. Hopefully they turn this music thing into an ongoing bit. Kit Wilson and Jey Uso fighting each other to get their respective music played over and over again feels like a perfect Royal Rumble spot. As a child of the World Wrestling Federation’s New Generation I’ve got no problem with the Wyatts and the MFTs fighting over a silly prop. That’s what this business is all about! Exactly what I want from the revolutionary force in Sports Entertainment! Whole show has improved for having Drew win the belt last week. It’s injected life into everything. Opened up so many possibilities. Cody cutting an amazing promo, forcing everyone back on his side, just in time to announce himself for the Royal Rumble. Belter. Suddenly, Cody feels like a favourite. Quick lads! Do Cody vs. Punk whilst you still can! This time next year Punk will have dissolved into a puddle. They missed a trick though. Considering the way Drew kept dropping the word, “mentalist,” on this show, the perfect way that he could have denied Cody a rematch was right there! Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Echo the above. Definitely some positive moves going on this week. One thing im also happy to see is them getting behind Trick Williams. You get a lot of NXT call ups where they don't really give anyone a reason to care unless you watched NXT. But they've presented him strongly so far. Gives me hope for Oba.. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 17 Paid Members Posted January 17 Wild note in this week’s Observer that they abandoned the proposed idea of Cody vs. Roman 3 at Wrestlemania 42 to avoid, “audience fatigue” and instead they might go with Cody vs. Drew. Even if we ignore that Cody vs. Drew isn’t a Wrestlemania Main Event calibre match at all, it is quite funny that they’d worry people would be sick of another Cody vs. Roman Mania Main Event, but would gladly take even more Cody/Drew matches. Cody vs. Drew is the definition of audience fatigue. It’s neck and neck between Cody/Drew and Seth/Punk for which feud has been going on the longest, with the least chemistry between the participants. Looking at the lay of the land, I’d main event the two nights with Sami vs. Roman for the WWE Title and Cody vs. Punk for the World. Cody vs. Punk is the biggest match they have and Sami vs. Roman is the very feud that ignited the boom and saved Roman’s career. It’s wild how much they’ve gone back to the well and squeezed every last drop from The Bloodline saga other than the very best bit, that being Sami Zayn’s involvement and chemistry with Roman. I’d be bang up to see Roman challenging a new, confident Sami. There’s loads you can do with that dynamic. Masterpiece video montages waiting to happen. A true treasure trove of Bloodline leftovers beyond, “this guy looks a bit Samoan, bring him in.” Quote

If WWE protects him he could be a long term main eventer. Quote
NeverYield Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I agree with the Trick Williams praise and that promo he cut the other week was great Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 24 Paid Members Posted January 24 Didn’t fly in to announce it in person. Didn’t even cut a promo on his phone that they could at least air on TV. Big Rome has his contracted twelve days a year and simply will not budge. Declaration announced via video package. Funniest man in the company. Pro-wrestling industry? Completed it, mate. Quote

Paid Members FLips Posted January 30 Paid Members Posted January 30 I stuck a bit of Smackers on earlier due to the time difference having it on while I was dossing about after work, and it's like the place is stuck in stasis. The Miz, R-Truth, Damien Priest, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, The Wyatts, it's like I never stopped watching a year ago. I heard good things about Dragunov but I really didn't think much to him here. Little tiny man, bad promo, weird conductor thing, out there going 50/50 with Miz. Crap finisher too. One thing that shocked me was how empty the crowd was. I though the Saudi shows were constant sellouts but they kept cutting away to 2/3 of an empty arena. Shocking. Quote

To be fair most them lot were shitting up the place when I stopped watching regularly about 8 years ago. Quote
