Paid Members FLips Posted September 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 6, 2025 I don't mind Alvarez at all but I think Dave is clearly suffering from some sort of cognitive decline lately. Every sentence he starts has another five sentences in it before he finishes the first one, if he ever does. Donald Trump levels of inane rambling. This clip of them discussing WWE numbers that showed up in my feed yesterday turned my brain into mush and I had to turn it off before he even finished his thought. Quote

Overall, I think Meltzer’s haphazard approach to reporting has been bad for wrestling and probably to individuals in it too, but I hope that’s not the case. I can see why you think that though and I don’t necessarily think you’re wrong, but it’s an awful thing to happen to anyone so I really do hope you are. Quote

Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted September 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 7, 2025 How do people listen to hours upon hours of that a week? Absolutely brutal. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 Alvarez can make good points. But is usually an absolute bellend about it, just an insufferable prick. Meltzer is a rambling mess. Could barely tolerate five minutes of either of them. Fuck knows how anyone can handle an hour plus. Quote
Chili Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 Alvarez was only ever tolerable when he used to review Russo era TNA. Meltzer I'll read his brilliant obits and pieces on things, but not a chance I'm listening to that rammel in audio form. Quote

Between this and the Raw thread, a good day for being reminded that wrestling media is abysmal. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted September 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 8, 2025 (edited) I’ve got more time for Dave than most. None of us would consume or discuss pro-wrestling the way we do without him and the majority of criticism he gets online is from morons just parroting whoppers like Bischoff and Pritchard. But yeah. Torturous audio. I unsubscribed years ago. Can’t imagine how anyone could listen to Observer Radio regularly in the year of Hangman Page, 2025. Especially when there are saints who’ll oftentimes transcribe the relevant stuff into bitesize chunks online. All his scoops land on the socials instantaneously, as well. No need whatsoever to listen to him endlessly, ‘you know’-ing or shouting over Alvarez. Edited September 8, 2025 by Supremo Quote
Cannibal Man Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 I really wish he'd do more of those Highspots shoots. I don't know if they even happen any more or the format exists any more now everyone's doing podcasts and stuff but those two videos he made with Rob Naylor and Chris Hero just droning on about weird old wrestling they liked was really good. I think he’s replaceable, and on the whole I think he’s done more harm than good, parroting lines from his favourite wrestlers to discredit accusers and treating fiction as fact. He seems unable to recognise when he’s being lied to. Then there’s the fact he’s run genuine scoops from other journalists without giving them credit, which is pretty shitty. Bischoff and Prichard are unreliable narrators for sure, but the specific gripe about him not getting in touch for right-of-replies seems valid enough to me. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted September 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 8, 2025 I’d still rather Meltzer than that dickhead Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful. Quote

Plus he’s not a Republican, which wins him extra points in my book. 2 hours ago, TheBurningRed said: I’d still rather Meltzer than that dickhead Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful. Sapp doesn’t come across particularly well, but his reporting is pretty much always bang on, even if he’s not really my cup of tea as a personality. Quote
