Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted April 12, 2024 Paid Members Posted April 12, 2024 You might think you're a loyal customer to your local chippy. But I just got a birthday card and a free chip barm off mine. Quote

Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted April 13, 2024 Paid Members Posted April 13, 2024 (edited) Paid a visit to Fish Kitchen 1854 which was rated Wales' no. 1 chippy and 2nd best in the UK in the 2023 National Fish and Chip awards. Fish Supper with additional fishcake and a pot of Irish Curry. Chips were absolutely cracking. Fluffy pillowy goodness. I must admit I thought the Fish we were served didn't look the greatest, but on eating it was beautiful. Batter was top notch and the fish was flakey and plentiful and fresh as it gets. Irish Curry had a fair bit of bite which was very welcome. Misses ate the fish cake so I can't comment but it didn't touch the sides. Will for sure be going again. Bargain for £15. https://caerphilly.observer/news/1017477/fish-and-chip-shop-named-second-best-in-uk/ Edited April 13, 2024 by Bus Surfer Quote

Was gonna go in but ended up settling for the greasy heart attack inducing goodness of Charlie's Cafe on the other side of the road. I'm back down there next week, I will drop in and see what all the fuss is about. Quote

Paid Members air_raid Posted May 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted May 15, 2024 Hello. For my mother’s birthday on Saturday we went for a chippy at my mums local… an established and wonderful proper chippy that’s been there all my life. Freshly cooked chips and all the traditional chippyness you could ask for available. Battered sausage, pukka pies, scallops, curry sauce, mushy peas and gravy. There’s even a jar of pickled eggs on the side. I forgot to get a photo of food because I was too excited but this hastily grabbed photo of the counter makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Two “regular” bags of chips to split, half and half normal and orange battered chips. Mixed chicken kebab and donner tray for Mrs-to-be raid and myself, mixed chicken and chicken tikka for mama raid and her living in sin adult male long term lodger. And the better half reminded me to grab their homemade onion rings, which aren’t on the menu and the girl even needed help from her superior to find them on the POS system. £20. Amusingly the lass asked if I needed my little list back for the various meat/sauce combinations and who wanted salt and who didn’t, when I looked confused having already received my food she said “Some people want to keep it so they can use it every week.” I’d love to be those people.
