Moderators Astro Hollywood Posted January 25, 2018 Moderators Share Posted January 25, 2018 Love the very pointed "No" when asked if he consulted Linda on the decision. Is there any greater reminder of man's frail mortality than the sight of elderly Vince? Reminds me of when a very frail Christopher Lee hobbled out at the BAFTAs. Undefeated Steak
He'd have been better off sticking that $100 million into launching an esports league. There'd be so much crossover with the production/behind the scenes staff that could launch the concept and even potentially another Network type platform where people paid $10 a month to stream all the content they wanted. A cross between Twitch and the WWE Network. Build a big gaming studio where they sign up the best players and have them all stream for a few hours a day. They could even end up doing live events and an esports version of Wrestlemania. If Vince wants to make it big outside of wrestling, I reckon that'd be his best chance. There'd be no problem getting sponsors and investors on board either. It's a matter of time before there's an esports company that's like a cross between WWE and UFC, in the way that the players and the content is produced. It's a shame Vince isn't ploughing the money in to it. As it is, and as others have said, the XFL thing should make for great car crash telly and an eventual documentary.

Briefcase
I do hope this works for him but it really comes across like somebody starting an E-Fed that has failed once before but is trying to bring it back again as bigger & better but with the same name and person running it with all these big ideas but without any real conviction behind it. That being said, I will probably watch it even though I hate the NFL because Vince and in this day and age there are so many media platforms to watch this on that make it a bit more appealing.

Bit difficult to do when you're married to someone who's bought herself a Cabinet position. It was fun to watch him squirm over the national anthem topic, first claiming the league will be all about the game of football and have nothing whatsoever to do with social issues, but then eventually pinned down to concede that standing for the anthem before the game will most likely be mandatory. I hope this dies every death.

Actually a pretty good idea, Xavier Woods - for obvious reasons - would be a natural host/presenter for it. And it's a market that's supposedly going to grow massively over the coming years. I still don't understand why.

robinbobs
This sounds like a brilliant way to introduce new characters into the WWE. They could do an only the strong survive tournament. Winner goes to NXT. Kind of like the young boy system in Japan, but with College Athletes.

You talk to anyone under the age of 18 and they spend more time watching YouTubers talking about naff all or playing video games than they do real sports. It's already massive but yeah, they think it's still miles away from how big it will get. The number of people who watch some of the big esports tournaments and events is *insane*. There are a ton of tournaments now where there's $1,000,000 prizes. Search google images for 'esports tournament'. They look like Wrestlemania already.

Money pissed down the pan by the developers of the games it’s all part and parcel of marketing the game. Nothing will ever match up to real sports. Until they come up with real deal virtual fighting. Daaaaaad!
Might be naivety on my part but surely San Diego, St. Louis and Oakland would be front runners for teams this time having recently lost their NFL franchises?

Cannibal Man
Imagine having $100m at age 72. Being able to ponce it up the wall on spending your final few years bumming anything that's not nailed down and downing cans of FAXE until your heart gives out at a Billy Pearce gig on a cruise liner. Instead you plunge the lot into an already failed venture that lives on in the minds of any poor bastard who remembers it as a punchline, announcing it to an audience of pisstakers with about half a kilo of foundation on your kite.  Best of luck to him, either in making it a success or making an absolute fucking orchestras of it.
