King Pitcos
Apparently though, since he got to the real shows, that writer thpendth motht of hith time hitting on developmental divath rather than actually doing any writing.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted June 12, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted June 12, 2016 Jerry Lawler's been telling people at conventions this weekend that Smackdown and Raw will be doing a PPV each every month. So we're going to be overloaded with PPVs when this happens. It would have been a bad idea to do it in 2002, but these days the new content is the main seller for the network. AVM
Unless Raw and Smackdown are run as truly separate entities (and we all know that there is one guy who will ultimately call the shots for both shows), two PPVs a month would be total overexposure. It's bad enough as is.
Drfunke
But they arent ppvs anymore. They are network specials. People can choose what to watch... Â Doesnt mattee aboit viewing figures aslong as subscriber numbers go up!
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted June 12, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted June 12, 2016 WWE already suffers from over exposure. As Ian typed, two new PPVs a month on the Network (even if most feature fluff and re-runs) is a grand hook, seeing as the new content is what people are after. I wonder if they also plan on raising the price a wee bit with the explanation "well, you're getting two PPVs a month now".
Briefcase
This kind of makes sense with the rumoured WWE Network UK special in September (it is on a Wednesday mind).  I could see them doing a PPV on a Sunday (e.g. Raw) and one other (maybe Smackdown?) doing random days but more touring PPV's such as UK, Japan, Australia etc.
the_mole
It has nothing to do with the 2 PPVs but if WWE really don't want to do 3 hour Raw's but like the mo ey it brings in, what about a compromise? Â WWE airs their PPVs on USA Network, 13 days after its aired in the WWE Network, Boxing has been doing it for decades and Sky Sports even does it, usually on a week delay, so why not try it out and Saturday's are usually bad TV nights, so both have nothing to loose really. Paid Members PunkStep Posted June 12, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted June 12, 2016 Sky Sports even does it No they don't. All PPVs are on Sky Box Office and aren't subsequently available on Sky Sports.
the_mole
Boxing PPVs are the Joshua. Fight was repeated on Sky Sports 1 or 2 about a week later.

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 13, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted June 13, 2016 It's not a bad shout. It's not like it's going to affect buys. Anyone still buying PPVs in the Network era is pretty diehard.
simonworden
Last time I looked some PPV's were still gaining at least 40,000 buys in the USA, there probably is still an non-tech savvy/ poor internet demographic who choose to do that. Some of the USA is pretty remote. I have problems in Saigon with streaming network stuff at night and the internet is ok here usually so makes sense there is still a small market paying for it in the traditional way. Not sure if that quantity pays for itself though
