Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted April 5, 2015 Awards Moderator Share Posted April 5, 2015 Fair enough, I can see that. I can imagine Bayley is going to have a similar problem if she gets called up.
Paid Members air_raid Posted April 5, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 5, 2015 Part of the problem with Emma is that the NXT fans got to watch her development as a character and become invested to the point she became popular, then they just dropped her on the main roster as she was and expected her to be popular right away. It doesn't always work like that. Especially if at first sight of your character people can be forgiven for thinking "Wow, she's mental. And annoying." Paid Members WWFChilli Posted April 5, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 5, 2015 Bayley will do fine if they handle her right and push her exclusively to kids, especially young girls. No porn baiting, no lesbian pollen angles. She'll be fine.

It doesn't always work like that. Especially if at first sight of your character people can be forgiven for thinking "Wow, she's mental. And annoying." It didn't help where all the hype vignettes for her were basically just "look at her crazy dance, everyone do the crazy dance with her!" rather than it catching on organically with the crowd. I doubt it would have anyway but immediately drawing attention to it certainly didn't help matters.
Paid Members WWFChilli Posted April 5, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 5, 2015 That actually pretty much killed her off.
King Pitcos
When did Emma debut? I wonder if her flopping was why they started Paige out as a blank slate generic new diva. That didn't really work either, though. Knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep in the transition is always a gamble.

There's something in the air that makes loads of female wrestlers become lesbians, they recently did a top 'Lesbian Pollen Angles' - http://oswreview.com/top10-lesbianpollen/
Paid Members Gordon_The_Gopher Posted April 9, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2015 Hi we are WWE - we make you think you've seen a GTS on our TV show from Itami...but have you??
Sexy Dad
The big GTS coming out party being featured in a highlight reel of the weekend's events was a bit of a shame but it did feel like a big deal with Hogan putting Hideo over as the innovator of the move. This week's show had some really good matches and it feels fresh seeing NXT in another different setting with a hot receptive crowd. However, the result obviously being spoiled took something away from an investment standpoint. I was pulling for the other three guys in the semi-finals to make their Mania debut over Hideo but the video package showing him with his family and talking to everyone in the locker room made him a bit more relatable. Job well done.
Mr.Showtime
Really enjoyed the Hideo Itami stuff, great to see a little journey of a superstar's weekend/month/year, lots of backstage footage etc. I haven't seen much of the current NXT lot outside WWE-land so yeah, I enjoyed it. Harry Wiseau
Like you say, knowing the winner took away from the tournament a bit but the last ten minutes were great, hopefully we'll get a few more months of him being awesome in NXT before he moves up to the big shows
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted April 9, 2015 Awards Moderator Share Posted April 9, 2015 Absolutely excellent video on Hideo at the end of this week's episode, exactly the sort of thing he needed. Loved that video. Zayn vs Rhyno next week should be great!
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted April 9, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2015 This week's episode really made Itami look like a star. Presenting him like that has rekindled my interest in him quite a bit, I thought maybe they were losing faith in him ever living up to his reputation.
