It is what it is, all I'm saying is that there have been things on TV that have looked at his dark side. This is obviously supposed to be a celebratory film, rather than an analysis on his past. It's about Donald Crowhurst's ill advised attempt make the first to sail solo non stop around the world in 1968. Under huge financial pressure and with the weather deadline for the attempt fast closing in, he sets off despite his boat not being fully built. The documentary also follows a dozen or so other attempts going on at the same time. One of those cases where there is so much archive footage its almost unbelievable (Very much like Capturing The Friedmans)Made by the same guy! Sure someone mentioned how the last fifteen minutes were like nothing else they'd seen. Finished it last night and wow, unbelievable stuff. I've been thinking about it all night. An incredible series, Bob Durst is one cold fish, the whole family are odd. Just got done viewing that, incredible stuff. If anyone wants to see it, i highly recommend you read nothing about the case before you do because significant things have happened since the documentary has aired. Quote

I'd describe it as a documentary covering a subject in a very similar style to Louis Theroux but without an interviewer or narrator. A really beautifully shot documentary and some really fascinating personalities and stories involved. I'd recommend not reading anything about it, and just watching it. I did that and reading the reactions online (which varied from one end of the scale to the other) was very interesting. Quote

I have been quite interested in the Charles Manson story recently and saw some similarities between the two. Scientology is almost like what the Charles Manson family could of become if things were different. Really creepy hearing how the president of the church is apparently in the hole along with the leaders wife. I feel really creeped out by the whole thing. Quote
