The film pokes holes at the alleged victims but it's not that far fetched some dodgy stuff went down there? They do make some valid points though. And i proper get the noncing vibe from him. Quote

The director actually ended up paying for his appeal and there's still legal back and forth between him and the police force. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he ended up winning a ton of money off them. But yep. His 'vibe' really didn't help him. Quote

Really emotional, especially when he talks about the people who have died around him. Hardly touches his addiction problems though. It's about Donald Crowhurst's ill advised attempt make the first to sail solo non stop around the world in 1968. Under huge financial pressure and with the weather deadline for the attempt fast closing in, he sets off despite his boat not being fully built. Stylin_and_Profilin Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) I thought the Gascoigne film was one of the biggest disappointments i can remember. Hardly touched on any of the bad stuff and when it did it was barely scratching the surface. He's been pretty frank and honest about the bad stuff before so it's not like it is a major taboo or 'no go' territory for the people putting the piece together. Even for the 'good' bits the only thing thats gets reasonable details is Italia '90. It also look like it had been rushed through in a very disjointed manner. Usually with these type of documentaries, especially for someone so famous and with such a storied life, it's full of quotes and interviews from people along the way or people reflecting on it now looking back. The way it was played out in the promo videos i was hoping/expecting exactly this. Graham Taylor, Terry Venables, Walter Smith? Fuck all from them. Anyone from Lazio? Nope. Any ex colleagues? Aye, one. Bloody one. That was Lineker, who, to be fair, comes across really well. Besides from that the only other real comment from football people you have is Rooney and Mourinho? Seriously WTF? They are relevant - in terms of Gascoigne i mean - by the most tenuous of links in that Mourinho was assistant to Bobby Robson who loved him and Rooney who played in a couple of bounce matches in training as a young boy. Then to top it all off it's almost like they have run out of time. You get up to him not making the squad for France 1998 (but not a mention of the whole stramash in the hotel and argument with Hoddle) and then a token line of 'Gascoigne also played for Everton, Middlesbrough, etc etc and then it's the credits rolling. Herne's Son Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I also didn't think it was great, I enjoyed the Italy 90 moments as that brought back good memories for me as a kid. Italy 90 was my first real world cup experience and no doubt Gazza was a huge part of that tournament. I get the feeling the documentary didn't want to focus on Gazza's sad decline in recent years. After watching I went on to wikipedia and read up on Gazza and it is really quite depressing seeing all the trouble he has had. Also got really annoyed with the constant slow motion! Quote

Could've been in depth and probing sure, but you want that, go and read The Sun, or online, plenty of stuff about the dark side of Gazza. Quote
