Guest
Re the ps50, that should be his new fans magazine. Seeing a cover where it says It has a list of the 50 best wrestlers in it should be a hook to get new readers. Then they find the cover of wwe stars that hooked them hides a list of unknowns. Paid Members GlennCullen Posted January 29, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 29, 2012 I've seen it for sale in Barnes & Noble in New York City. Had a ridiculous markup on it as well.
darkship
I think it's now pretty clear that PS and its readers all live in some alternative dimension where it's always 411Wrestling.com circa 2003. Â Nah, everyone loved Cena in 2003 for his basketball shirts and 'edgy raps'. 2005, maybe.
Wendell Cooley
I haven't seen it for sale anywhere in Indonesia, but the WWE magazine is available in some English language bookshops. They don't even show wrestling on TV here anymore - the government banned it from being shown after some kid died trying to copy a DDT or something. It was really popular at the time, and all. Funny thing is that Indonesians never use the word 'wrestling' to describe it - it's always 'Smackdown'. Vince would jizz his pants if he cared. Â Anyway, I don't miss reading Powerslam as you get better, funnier criticism here and I have the Observer for News and Facts. It used to be a monthly ritual of mine to buy it from Smiths then read it over a few pints in Weatherspoons, but it started to be a bit of a chore when Fin went into grumpy old man mode. It used to be a great read back in the day when you had guys like Rob Butcher and John lister writing for it, but it increasingly became like reading a blog penned by a petulant masochist with a peculiar vision of what wrestling should be like. Â It's a really weird editorial policy for a specialist magazine to take. Who, for example, would want to read a heavy metal magazine that told you that everything metal bands do these days is wrong and that you, the reader, are foolish for not sharing the same esoteric tastes as the guy who writes almost all of the articles? Fin Martin, that's who. It would be one thing if he was a dab hand at the sort of snarky, spiteful writing that's all over the Internet, but he just comes across as a guy banging his head against a wall, obsessively documenting everything that could be perceived as contributing to the decline of an industry that he used to love but now wants to die, if only to say "I told you so!" Nero
Does Martin post on here at all? Im sure he has at least had a look at the almost 30 page thread in his honour I dont know much about the guy tbh, I just imagine him to be a bitter 40+ man with "Cena sucks" posters on his wall. Aside from that, I really hope Power Slam continues for many years to come, for all its faults, getting it (and FSM) through the post are some of the highlights of my month, jeez that sounds really sad! ThePhenom
Some of those Reader Awards must be rigged surely? How on earth were John Cena & Mark Henry the two worst Pro Wrestlers in the world of 2011? That's bizzare. I did enjoy the magazine this month though, but I just had to mention it. The King Of Swing
Fin has really gone off CM Punk hasn't he? and what's his beef with Chris Jericho? Â Punk is not the best wrestler in the world, and never will be. He's not even the best in WWE. Still, he's a cut above Chris Jericho. CiderBag
He (ol' glorified fanzine Fin, I liked that one) has a Beef with Jericho. Jericho obviously knows nothing about it as he used Fin for advertisement on a Fozzy tour. Fin proved to be a hypocrite there. He also used his "totally legit and def not fake" letters section to cry about what Jericho said in the interview when he clearly didn't have the guts to on the phone. Â If memory serves, he also banged on about what Jericho said in a snide fashion months later. Â Well glad I don't waste my money on that mag anymore. Do you mean Jericho/Fozzy paid for an ad in the magazine? If so, then continuing to criticise Jericho after taking his money for an advert is surely the absolute opposite of hypocrisy. King Pitcos
Exactly. Like a celebrity who takes drugs, then takes money to do anti-drug adverts, then keeps taking drugs. Â The concept of advertising in Power Slam is mad anyway. On one page, there'll be a full-page ad for the latest WWE pay-per-view on DVD, then overleaf, Fin doing four pages on how shit that pay-per-view is. Silver Vision must think that, even to PS readers, a picture of a DVD carries more weight than the editor's opinion of a show.
