Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted March 16, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted March 16, 2018 That's me own favourite part of the book too, Rick. I've kind of went off wrestling for a few years, drifting in and out only on the basis of a segment or a return slightly piquing my interest, but that book has made me delve back through my old VHS tapes and hunt stuff down on YouTube and beyond and reignited my love for wrestling again. It's mid to late nineties that I'm obsessing over, but I can't underestimate what that book has done to me. It's essentially been like a Viagra for my almost non existent grappling libido. Paid Members BomberPat Posted March 23, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted March 23, 2018 As per Facebook, Kendo Nagasaki is releasing his autobiography later this year. He's been talking about working on one since at least 2001, so hopefully it's actually a reasonably extensive and interesting book, not just a hastily thrown together bit of nonsense. Curiously, it also claims to feature contributions from Gorgeous George Gillett - so either he's been working on this book since at least 1990, he's cobbled together material from prior attempts or old interviews, or, it being Kendo, George has contributed his section via Ouija board. The book is credited to Peter Thornley, which might give some indication as to what level of kayfabe or otherwise to expect.

Kendo was second only to Big Dady/Giant haystacks in the old days. Even if he kayfabes his upbringing, and i think he will,i am really interested in the stories he has to tell and his thoughts on the other wrestlers(particularly the earlier 2) and wrestling in general now. IMO Kendo Nagasaki is the ultimate "masked man of mystery" in the sense that his real life is even more interesting than his character! I am reluctant to mention aspects & stories of his personal life, as he is a VERY private & shy person. For this reason i am fearful for the quality of this book because i have major doubts that it would be a "warts & all" publication, which would be a real shame because not only would it be very interesting to reveal previously untold stories, but because a lot of it is from a bygone era that most readers would find hard to comprehend in this day & age. Regarding Gorgeous George (another extremely interesting person) There are loads of quotes & opinions, (both published/previously unpublished) that would be still relevant to this book. I'm a gossip whore in books as much as anyone else

Then 40 years of wrestling stories, including trips to Japan & Canada. Also quite a bit of scandal already covered by various tabloids over the years. The only hope i currently have for an epic read is the "Peter Thornley" credit on the front of the book. Kendo normally hates the use of his name, despite it being common knowledge. So at least there is a hint that he will at least flirt with the truth.
