I had an issue or two of both and think they had the same content. It has been 30ish years mind you so you should get a better source. I can distinctly remember an issue set in a yam shop and having to work out what a yam was.

Free Knob hanger has to be for us, right? Americans don't know what knob means.

The comics of cartoons were always so weird, I used to read the beavis and butthead comic back in the day and the stories were insane. I remember one where they went to a morgue and played with dead bodies and it was quite graphic.

The Simpsons comic is an alternate much more bizarre universe too with even more out there plots than the show.

I know it's not a cartoon but I always wondered if this comic featured equally over the top alternate universe stories

I was in the Geek Retreat for a brew with my mate this afternoon, and they have a load of those Marvel graphic novel/trade paperback collections with the brown covers etc. Anyways, I picked up the Beta Ray Bill one as it was £7.99. It features the two issues of Thor where he made his debut, and all 6 parts of Stormbringer: The Ballad Of Beta Ray Bill. I'm a big fan of him. I almost bought the Squirrel Girl one (She's my favourite), but I have a lot ofher stuff on my Kindle to read yet.

I have an issue I picked up back in the day and yes, they were (not the one you found). I remember they were hard to get , my local stores never got them. I had the first 100 or so Simpson Comics, I quite liked them at the time. I also had some Ren and Stimpy and Bill and Ted comics.

Yeah, Beavis and Butthead UK was a few months behind the States IIRC. The exact same stories. I still have the first few issues of the UK version in good condition but they’re not worth much according to eBay searches.

Absolute Batman first issue is a lot of fun. There are enough differences from mainline Batman comics, but not so far removed that it doesn’t feel like Batman at all. His new suit, where all parts of it are used as weapons, is a highlight. Hopefully Absolute Superman and Wonder Woman can carry on the quality.

I had that exact issue. For some reason my mum didn't want me hanging up that door sign. I was 11. The comic actually really wasn't that good. 90% of the quality is in the timing and the voice, neither of which come across in the comic, obviously.

Some of the covers are also backup stories. I think I read somewhere they're doing Dr Strange Vs Constantine, Lobo Vs Wolverine, Nightwing & Laura Kinney, and Hulk/Harley Quinn.

I've seen images of Dr Strange vs Constantine, and Hulk/Harley. Batman and Deadpool will be the main focus. We should get some fun stuff that feeds off the main story.

Who in the comic industry would be overseeing something like this?

If it's anything like the Marvel Vs DC/Amalgam stuff from the 90s there'll be a pool of writers and artists picked from each publisher. There's so much crossover between the two anyway. I'm sure it wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world for somebody like Chuck Zdarsky to write a Batman and Deadpool story. 

Speaking of which I don't think we're too far from the 30th anniversary of Marvel Vs DC, and I think I read that they're doing a reprint for the occasion, so I wonder whether this will tie into it.

One of the back up stories is Daredevil and Green Arrow with Kevin Smith writing. I think I have a couple of different covers ordered but I'll probably pick up a few more.
