Merzbow
Keep an eye out in Forbidden Planet for some good deals in their sale, I just got the hardcover limited edition TPB of Young Terrorists for 3 quid reduced from £27 and the Black Mask Comics box set with shirt for £13. Paid Members unfitfinlay Posted February 16, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 16, 2019 I've been working my way through old X-Men comics on Marvel Unlimited. Professor Xavier is just the fucking worst character. He'll disappear for ages, leaving the team to their own devices, and then he'll come back just to fuck shit up. He's basically a McMahon, making decisions on a whim, and expecting everyone else to adapt. I'm just past the point where he's added Rogue to the team, despite everyone else's objections, despite not knowing if he can trust her and despite her not even ASKING to join. It's a pure "I'm Professor Xavier DAMMIT!" power play. He's the worst thing in an otherwise brilliant series. Marvel Unlimited is so great though. It's a real shame DC doesn't have anything similar. I got Comixology because I didn't want two separate apps for DC and Marvel, plus you get loads of stuff from other comics publishers. However, recently, I tried to get Comixology Unlimited, as they're always advertising it on the app, and it seems they don't allow it in the UK. Given how long they've had it for (it's been a few years already), it's a bit shit they haven't rolled it out here yet (or ever), especially when they still have adverts pushing it. It's basically unlimited access to thousands of their comics, dating back to the old 50s horror comics, with the newest releases on a delay. There IS a limit on how much you can have downloaded at one time but I've never really noticed it. It's cheap too. I was paying around £6 to £8 a month depending on the exchange rate. They always seem to have offers when there's a movie or TV show out as well. I got an annual membership for £55 as part of their promotion for Spider-Verse. That probably paid for itself this week alone. It's interesting reading the old stuff back. In one of the earliest Fantastic Four comics, they had them break the fourth wall to go "The Invisible Girl isn't rubbish! We're not killing her off! Stop writing in about it!" I really want them to upload the crazy Captain America propaganda stuff from the 50s but I can't imagine that they ever will.
Paid Members DEF Posted February 16, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 16, 2019 I don't read enough Marvel to warrant it on a monthly basis but every now and then I sign up for a month. I binged the entire Civil War on it. Something like 110 issues across most of their titles. Helpfully it had a reading order too.
Paid Members Accident Prone Posted February 17, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 17, 2019 Is there a version of this for Image or Vertigo? I had to stop reading several comics (Chew, Saga, Sandman) because the trades are pricey.
Paid Members DEF Posted February 17, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 17, 2019 I think that type of stuff is on comixology unlimited but as Carbomb says Its not available in the UK.

Paid Members DEF Posted February 17, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 17, 2019 Shame. Could you set up a US Amazon account? I wait for whatever I fancy to be on sale on Comixology. They have sales every day and swap out new stuff all the time. Makes it easy to build up a collection and doesn't break the bank. Most DC/Vertigo graphic novels is usually on sale for £3.99 sooner or later. Marvel £2.99 give or take. Same with Indies and Image.
Rey_Piste
As long as you have a. Com email address and use a yank address as if it's yours, you should be able to get a septic Amazon account.
Paid Members Accident Prone Posted February 18, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted February 18, 2019 It's think it's down to the UK registered bank card. Gives it away unless you can now hook up your Paypal account too. I'll give it a go though after work and I'll report back with the findings. Paid Members DEF Posted April 28, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted April 28, 2019 There's a big Avengers sale over at Comixology. Any recommendations? Weirdly I've read very little Avengers compared to Justice League and don't have the foggiest which are their stand out storys.
King Pitcos
I've just signed up for Marvel Unlimited, but I don't know how to find any comics on there that I won't think are shite. I just started reading Infinity (2013) #1 on there and what a big turd it is. I've no interest in the contunuity porn that seems to make up the majority of the catalogue, where you have to know and care about the backstory of 5000 characters to enjoy the story. So I suppose really I'm after standalone stuff that doesn't tie into the Mega Cross-title Retcon Events. Nothing that, in graphic novel form, would say "originally published as Iron Man #7-10, Avengers #63-64 and Captan America Vol 9 #2-6." Stuff that you could treat like starting a new series on Netflix, rather than starting to watch Eastenders and having to ask your nan who everyone is. Or rather, stuff that you could treat like the first Guardians of the Galaxy film rather than Avengers Endgame. I think my favourite Marvel comics ever are the Garth Ennis Marvel Knights Punisher stuff (before the Max Punisher just involved Ennis having big wanks over army stuff), and Thor: Vikings. I quite liked Ultimate Spider-Man for a bit as well, but lost track of it.
Merzbow
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl from 2015, it's the only Marvel comic I've read in recent years but it's its own thing with the initial 8 issues especially being apart from everything else.
