Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted December 20, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 20, 2015 VHS Boxsets are everywhere in the carboot sales. I gave in and bought the Gold one for 50p a few weeks back.
Paid Members Surf Digby Posted December 20, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 20, 2015 They're in widescreen and they don't have ad breaks, therefore they're instantly better than the versions I relied on for years.
Merzbow
 With all the hype around star wars I'm looking to watch the originals. There seem to be many versions I hear with fans blasting a recent blu ray release. Are the original s available in their unaltered state on dvd or blu ray? Also are the changes that rubbish to somebody who cant remember seeing them before? The originals aren't available commercially. There are 'despecialised' versions of them floating around the net though  Gotta disagree with Merzbow, though. There's quite a few significant differences - for example the current canon version has Hayden Christiansen's 'young' Anakin turning up as a force ghost at the end of Jedi. Instead of Sebastian Shaw's 'old Anakin'.   I see your point but I meant more for someone who hasn't seen/can't rememeber seeing them before, although I really should find those deconstructed versions some time.  Has anyone ever imported a car from Japan or somewhere similar and what's the best way to go about it? I've got my heart set on a Sprinter Trueno AE86 (cos im a nerd..) and I might be waiting a while but it'd be good to know beforehand.
Paid Members BigJag Posted December 20, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 20, 2015 http://torque-gt.co.uk/ Give those guys a shout. I take it you're an Initial D fan. Japanese cars are right hand drive so that won't be an issue. Left hookers always look wrong.
Merzbow
Aye I am, I'm guessing an old car like that and one made so famous will make them hard to find for a decent price but it's just a little achievable dream of mine. Â Cheers for the link, the Levin could be an easier bet.
The British Bushwacker
On the Star Wars talk, I've not watched any of the films & I know there's debate over which order to watch them in, interested to hear the general opinion on what order to watch them in should I do so at some stage
Rey_Piste
Just watch them in the order they were released in this whole watching them in weird orders is a waste of time if you've not seen them before.
Paid Members SpursRiot2012 Posted December 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 21, 2015 Two questions related to learning to drive.  In your experience, is it better to go with a big company like the AA or an independent school? There isn't much in the cost and I've heard differing opinions on which is best.  Second, what should I be looking for in a car with a budget of probably £1,500? I have no idea about cars. What kind of mileage should a second car have, what other things should I be looking at? Thanks.
MungoChutney
I went with an instructor that was recommended to me. If someone else you know has learned recently ask them who taught them. Also don't be afraid to try out a few instructors, its important that you've got the right chemistry. Â In terms of cars for 1,500 quid a good bet would be a Vauxhall Astra 10 years old or so. I've twice had an Astra that was about this age or older and they're very reliable and decent on the fuel plus they drive like a bigger car than they are. If you can get a 1.4 engine the insurance won't be too mental. Although for first time drivers cars under 1.1 litre are generally much, much cheaper. Â Average usage mileage is between 8-10,000 per year so have a look at the mileage then divide it by the cars age. If it's above 8-10k per year I'd pass on it. Don't bother with the prequels. Can only affect your enjoyment of the franchise negatively.

If it's above 8-10k per year I'd pass on it. It does depend on if it's something like an ex rep vehicle, where it will have a full service history and most of the mileage is from motorwyas, which isn't so hard on the car. Â As for looking for a car as a new learner, go for a car under 1.1.litre. Then you should be able to get a Peugeot 106/Citroen C1/Toyota Aygo for a decent price and the insurance shouldn't be too bad and only 35 a year for tax. Paid Members Carbomb Posted December 21, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 21, 2015 The Star Wars watching order thing - there was some discussion recently that the best way to watch it is 4, 5, 2, 3, 6 and 7. It can be the viewer's own way of negotiating the storyline, treating Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith as flashbacks. 1 adds pretty much nothing to the storyline, so don't bother with it. WyattSheepMask
 I don't know how easy they are to find, but these DVDs have both the special editions and the unaltered theatrical versions.  The only negative is that the theatrical version is a deliberately hobbled postage stamp  I will never part with these. You still get all of these amazon market place quite easily, although the price does seem to have shot up since I last saw them.  As has already been discussed, the changes are minimal and don't really serve any purpose, with the one exception (Han shooting Greedo) it's just nerds having a moan because Lucas is raping their childhood or some other stupid bollocks
