Paid Members waters44 Posted October 26, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 26, 2015 A quick google has thrown up an article from the BBC to say that cuts to legal aid were made in 2013, and another article says more cuts in 2015.  Its still available but only under certain circumstances  In 2013 they stopped legal aid for child contact issues which i assume relates to my scenario and would explain perfectly why i havent heard anything for ages
Steve Justice
This is what one solicitor has come back with:- Â "The test for whether someone qualifies for legal aid is a two limbed test and although your son may pass the financial test he would not pass the interests of justice test, as the offences he is accused of would not be deemed serious enough to warrant a legal aid order being granted." Â So I guess he can't then.
Paid Members mim731 Posted October 27, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 27, 2015 If in doubt, pop down to your local citizens advice bureau, they will be able to tell you what help he is entitled to, whether he needs a solicitor, and your best course of action from there. King Pitcos
You can't do that anymore either, can you?
Steve Justice
Our experience with citizens advice in the past hasn't been good to he honest.  Spoke to another solicitor today who reiterated the above. He said they could help out with filling out the form which would take about an hour, for £250.  No thanks. I know how to fill out forms.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted October 27, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 27, 2015 I've had two citizens advice experiences, both of them inherently ridiculous, but good from their end:  1 — not me directly, but when I was a kid (about 10), my mama angrily marched into the citizens advice place in Nottingham to demand an investigation into why comic books were so expensive. Unresolved issue, I believe.  2 — Embarrassingly, I once signed up to a Jamster-style joke-telling service, without realizing that it was daily, and cost 50p a day. I tried to unsubscribe, but they'd cunningly structured their site in flash, to make it nearly impossible to read the unsubscribe email, and they didn't pick up the phone. Thankfully, my old job required a jeweler's loupe sometimes, so I was able to manually magnify the email, and after two unresponsive email attempts, copy in my angry third email to Newham citizens advice — got an unsubscribe response, and a refund, within ten minutes. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted October 27, 2015 Moderators Share Posted October 27, 2015 Ha! We subscribed my mate to that joke text service and he couldn't figure out what was going on for ages. The jokes wee shit and all..
Undefeated Steak
I need to get GIF files into a video editing programme. Tried Windows Movie Maker but it doesn't support gifs. Any recommendations for similar video editing or file conversion software please? Always wary to just Google stuff like this. Thanks.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted October 28, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 28, 2015 It's a workaround, but if you have photoshop, you can render gifs as video — if you don't have PS, I'd be happy to do it for you.
Undefeated Steak
I do have Photoshop, thanks for the offer though, kind of you.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted October 28, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted October 28, 2015 Cool — that’s what I do, anyway. I made an action to batch convert .gifs to MP4, because I decided to retrieve some of my old .gifs and stick some sound on them.
