Retro Red Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/patrick-stewart-dead-star-trek-x-men-1236742932/ not going to lie, this one is a gut shot. Quote
Paid Members johnnyboy Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Fucking rough week for us Trekkers. Sir Patrick Stewart's social media has posted that he passed yesterday. Quote
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Ah man, that's a sad one. I think everyone loved Patrick Stewart. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Beyond gutted. Riveting actor, never once saw him phone it in, even during atrocious storylines in Star Trek. I sold him a coffee machine once. RIP Quote

I rewatched Multiverse of Madness the other day, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't to see Patrick Stewart one more time. Quote
Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago I don't think I even realised he was diagnosed with dementia. He just seemed like a human that would be lucid until the day he passed. Gutted by this Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Not me holding during the break at D&D because I just got the notification through on my phone. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Thankful that his brush with Dementia was short, but sorry to lose such an iconic hero of mine. Quote
deathrey Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Huddersfield's most beloved/cherished resident. I am absolutely gutted, I don't think gutted does it justice. I knew this day would come but didn't expect it to be so soon. He was beloved and cherished by millions and will be mourned by so many. He will always have a very special place in my heart. I'm so sad. Edited 5 hours ago by deathrey Quote
Paid Members Monkee Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Absolutely gutted about this. I’ve loved him since TNG back in the day abs was lucky enough to see him in a play a few years ago. What an amazing actor. Really upset about this one. Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted 5 hours ago Awards Moderator Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Extremely sad to hear this. What a voice, what an actor. I think it was X-Men rather than Star Trek that introduced me to him, but he was perfect in those two iconic roles, whether playing chess with McKellen or insisting there were four lights. So lucky to have got to see him on stage a couple of times, including The Tempest where he played Prospero; even in the cheap seats at the back of the theatre he reached you with his performance. RIP to one of the very best. Edited 5 hours ago by HarmonicGenerator Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Ah that's awful. I was a massive TNG fan in my teens, and greatly enjoyed reading his autobiography last year (my major takeaway from which was that his love for the stage shone through throughout, and most anything he did on screen was "the day job") Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago TNG was a regular fixture on the TV as a kid. I'd always watch it if it was on and I had time. I wasn't a fan of the X-Men movies, but Patrick Stewart was an inspired choice for Professor X. I also remember seeing him in a version of Macbeth on BBC4 one time. As has been mentioned here, he was brilliant in whatever he was in and never felt like he was just there for a payday. I feel like he was particularly enjoying his time in American Dad as well. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted 5 hours ago Paid Members Posted 5 hours ago Obviously, and understandably, best known for being so ace in TNG but I cannot recommend his performance in Green Room highly enough. Genuinely frightening. Brilliant actor. Absolutely shit news. Quote
Retro Red Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago TNG was my first real nerd fandom as a youngster, I was obsessed for a long time and still love the show today. X-Men came a couple of years later for me and remains my greatest love of any property. Both converged with my first real experience of ‘fan casting’ when rumours of the first x-men films were swirling around 98. I wanted Stewart to play Professor X, and he was every bit as good as I thought he would be. The fact that he’s shortly reprising the role for the 9th time in a couple of months will be a bittersweet way to say goodbye to possibly my favourite actor throughout my lifetime. Harmonic is spot on to say he was never less than iconic in everything he did. Even doing guest voiceovers for Seth McFarlane comedies he shone. Rest in Peace Professor, Captain, Admiral. Just like Q, you were my favourite too. Quote
