Mr_Danger Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I’m sure wherever he is now he can still see James Corden’s belly. Quote
Retro Red Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago You just reminded me of that, I was forgetting Extras. That was the first time I remember him doing something comedic against type and again just delightful. His delivery of ‘On the grass’ is something I still quote (butcher) to this day. Quote

"I've seen everything" Him as Professor X is one of the best casting decisions of all time, and a huge reason why the X-Men films are the best Marvel films. Quote

Thefatduck Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago That’s a real shame. He brought real gravitas to star trek. Great actor. I must have watched is Macbeth 30 times. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago He was fantastic in Frasier. "WIll Peter O'Toole be there?" "No....and he knows why!" He was an inspired casting choice for Xavier, I'm not a Trekkie but I am a Marvel nut, And yeah, he was brill. Glad he can come back for Doomsday. Quote

He just seemed like a human that would be lucid until the day he passed. Gutted by this Thankfully it was brief, which is probably for the best. It’s such a cruel illness. Even though he was 86, but he never seemed that old. Going bald early made him feel kind of timeless. It does suck getting older, everyone you like dies. Quote
Infinity Land Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Grew up with Next Generation. So he was my Captain. Loved everything he was in. 11 minutes ago, gmoney said: Aside from Star Trek and X Men, which he was amazing in, I love him in I, Claudius. Utterly menacing. He was amazing as the villain in Green Room. I'm not sure I can watch that anytime soon knowing Patrick Stewart and Anton Yelchin are no longer around. Quote

Paid Members stumobir Posted 4 hours ago Paid Members Posted 4 hours ago Not looking to win any tenuous link awards, but I went to uni with his grandniece. She went out with one of my best mates and was a bit kooky, but I always found it endearing how highly she spoke of him and how proud she clearly was to be related to him. Him and McKellen in X-Men are the only times I’ve been remotely interested in superhero films, and the two of them together raised it from a bit naff to genuinely enjoyable. A sore one, this. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Quite simply one of the best actors of all time. Whether it be a Shakespearean classic or a sci-fi drama, he always gave it his all. Let's not forget his brilliant charity work and highlighting things like PTSD and his work with Combat Stress and Refuge. An utterly brilliant man Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted 4 hours ago Members Posted 4 hours ago Him introducing Salt n Pepa is delightful. Quote
Merzbow Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Often forgotten that even before he became possibly the biggest actor in science fiction he was also in David Lynch's Dune. Even if David was supposedly a bit of a dick to him because Patrick didn't look how he was expected to. He played a damn good Lenin, too. R.I.P Comrade. Quote

I was going to mention that Fraiser episode as it's one of my Top 3 episodes of the show and easily the best episode of the last 3-4 seasons when the show was showing signs of decline Every scene he is in is just brilliant with so many funny lines. When he walks into Frasiers apartment for the first time "The View Breathtaking, the art perfect..the chair hilarious" Just the way he delivered it was just brilliant. Might put that episode on later when I go to bed. But also echo what everyone else has said he was just perfect in his 2 big roles as Picard and Professor X and really happy he got to reprise both roles over the last few years one more time. Grew up with TNG as my 1st introduction to Star Trek so he has always been my captain over Kirk and still enjoyed seeing him playing the role in the comeback series. Just superb on the stage and regret I never got to see him live performing I also always enjoy seeing his portrayal of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol watch every other year at least during Christmas and will definitely be watching this Christmas Eve. Just a truly great man that I don't think I've ever heard anyone say a bad word about RIP will be truly missed Quote
