I know some people hate fantasy booking, so they can feel free to click back and fuck off! (Just kidding!)

For those that do like to have a little think about fantast scenarios, here's a challenge. There are no rules or anything. You can write ten words or a thousand or anything you like.

I know there'll be some great ideas and some shit ideas but let's have a laugh at them and keep it respectful. No need to make anyone feel awful.

Challenge #1

How would you turn Hulk Hogan heel - in the WWF - at any point between 1989 and 1993? When and how would you execute the turn and how would you book him as a heel on top of the Federation? And who would become the number one guy in his place?

I have great sympathy for the opinion that he was always the heel but fan reactions and merch sales would suggest otherwise. So how are you making the Hulkster the bad guy while the WWF is still at it's peak or on the way down the slope?

I'm stretching with the dates here but I'm going 1993 and pretending this would be enough to keep Hogan around another year. End WrestleMania IX the same way, but he does it to a just-retained-the-title Bret instead of Yokozuna. Maybe that's enough to send sufficient resentment his way, get sympathy on a cheated Bret, who wins King of the Ring as some ammunition to get a fair rematch against Hogan. Meanwhile, Yoko is still going up against Lex Luger as the new American hero, but his countout celebration at Summerslam is slightly less ridiculous because it wasn't a title match. You head towards Mania and have Luger-Yoko and Hart-Hogan, end WrestleMania X the same way, but with Bret celebrating defeating Heel Hulk. Maybe.

I was going to go similar time but Hogan comes out during Bret/Yoko, grabs Mr Fuji's salt and throws it in Bret's eyes himself. Screws him out of the title. Then becomes best mates with Bill Goldberg*.

*maybe not that last bit

I had open-heart surgery last week for which they had to cut my ribcage open. I was up and about 2-3 days later which got me thinking that Hogan was a right fanny after Earthquake bust his sternum. I'd have had Hogan turning up with doctor's notes and test results claiming that he'd love to avenge the attack but he's not allowed to lift more than 3kg for AT LEAST 5 weeks and even then he'd have to get permission from the orthopedic doctor and maybe slowly up the lifting limit to 5kg then 10kg. If we do finally get the match signed then there are to be no splashes thank you very much.

Hulk doing exactly what he did at Wrestlemania 9, but with Bret pleading with him not to do it, and being disgusted with him afterwards, has all the potential in the world. Work that shoot, brother.

First off, hope you're doing okay @King Coconut.

Okay, I don't think you *can* turn Hogan before 1992/3. But if business is good, I think he could hang around.

So, I'd probably move things around. Bring in Yokozuna at the Rumble, run the same Sid angle with Yoko and have him beat Hogan at Wrestlemania VIII.

Hogan comes back at the following Rumble, and we run the Money Inc match there instead. Brutus loses the match for them, and Hogan rips the mask off and beats the hell out of him. Savage runs in to protect Brutus.

He runs in at the end of the Rumble and attacks Macho Man, allowing Yokozuna to win. His rationale is that Yoko beat him, so deserves to be the champ over a man that never did.

At some point, Savage calls out Hogan, but Razor attacks him. And at Wrestlemania, we have Hogan and Razor beating Savage and Brutus by cheating, and Hart beats Yokozuna.

At King of the Ring, we get Hogan vs Hart, with Hogan winning, and either at Sunmerslam, Luger beats Hogan as the new Real American, or we build that up for Mania X.

For me it's as simple as Hogan cheating to beat Warrior at Wrestlemania. Maybe aligning with Heenan as a manager to do it. The crowd is already 50/50 anyway.

At the end of Rumble '92, when Hogan cheats Sid out of the match. Instead of following up with Sid turning on Hogan, swap it round. Him doing the SNME turn and leaving Sid to the Wolves of Flair/Taker would have been tremendous.

Ohh, like this!

I'll take another stab at the Mania 9 onwards scenario.

So, Fuji has just thrown the salt, Brets been pinned and the crowd are stunned. Here comes Hogan, to make sure he is is ok and argue his corner. Fuji makes the challenge, big leg and we have a new Champion!

The following weeks, Hogan is everywhere on the TV! Showing the belt off, crowing about how he took down the "Jap", but not defending the Belt. We get promos from Fuji and Cornette demanding a rematch for their former Champ, but no! Hogan is an American hero and the only person getting the title shot is Bret Hart! So we're at King of the Ring and a HUGE, history making babyface match. Were hoping the crowd will be split(but in reality it would have been 80/20 Bret, in my opinion). The match goes back and forth, but with Hogan always hitting the big moves, but he just cant keep the fighting Hart down for the 3 count. Bret makes his big comeback though, and as he twists hogans huge legs into the Sharpshooter, but Fuji and Cornette arrive, Fuji jumps on the apron distracting the ref and Cornette slides in and levels Hart with the loaded racket!

Hogan slowly gets to his feet, looking shocked and a little disgusted in what has just happens, before his face twists into a huge grin. He takes off towards the ropes, high fiving Cornette on the way, and drops the big leg on the prone challenger. The ref counts 1-2-3 as the commentary team sound shocked at what happened and the crowd sit stunned at what they have witnessed.

The PPV goes to black with a shot of Hogan, Fuji and Cornette celebrating together in the ring from the isle, but as it pull out we see the back of an onlooking Yokozuna. What does he think of all this? Tune in next week, same Hogan time, same Hogan channel!

Sheikh Hogan

I considered that when I was thinking about this. The whole idea came from a similar thought, Japanese Sympathiser Hulk in 1993. Bret beats Yoko, Hogan comes down to "protect" Bret, Fuji goads Bret into putting the belt up against Hogan right there and then before chucking salt in his eyes and Hogan dropping the big leg. Get the IWGP title on Hulk as well, he was already bigging it up. Have him cut a shitload of pre-tapes for every Raw saying he can't be there because he's got to work in Japan where the real money is. Swap the red and yellow for red and white and the bandana for a Mr Miyagi headband.

To avoid the sort of grief they got from Japanese groups in the US, I'd have Hulk always wear some sort of shirt or badge with both flags on so it's not as on the nose as Sarge's dreadful 1991 run.

Hogan & Yoko vs. Perfect & Savage to headline the KOTR. Hogan puts over Bret at SummerSlam but keeps the IWGP belt so he can keep shithousing them about being Japan's #1. Then if you want to go with Luger as they did, Lex could beat Yoko at Summerslam and you'd do Hogan, Yoko, Tenryu and Kabuki against Bret, Lex, Perfect & Savage at Survivor Series. Build to Lex vs. Hogan at Mania 10. Throw a Hogan/Savage match in there with the roles reversed and you'd get a great year out of heel Hulk.

I've had a blast imagining the stuff you could shoot in Japan while Hulk is on tours. I'd have Hulk film a load of mock adverts for stuff like Toyota, Fujifilm, etc and run them on Raw. I'm seeing Fuj in a "FUJI RULES" T-shirt and headband too.

fuck me, the thought of Hogan in the headband and Fuji in mock-Hogan gear has absolutely creased me. Incredible.

1993, you're looking at the same year as the movie Rising Sun (and the book the previous year), and the tail end of a lot of anxiety around Japanese interests buying into American corporations, and Japan becoming the new economic superpower (the same reason that WCW had Hiro Matsuda turn the Four Horsemen into the Yamazaki Corporation). The big patriotic champion selling out to Japan would be very much in keeping with the pop culture of the time, I can definitely picture it.

100%. They were already doing that rhetoric on commentary too with The Steiners being from Detroit and going on about Japanese made cars etc, so it was very much in the orbit of WWF talking points at the time beyond just the Yokozuna push. A massive missed opportunity.
