Love the story about how one of the Gallaghers got bollocked off his wife because he told her he wrote it for her but the “original” was playing on the radio. Yeah, it definitely has a different vibe. I think Brannigan's version comes across as a much darker song which I quite like. Interestingly the two we're released as singles within weeks of each other (one of the song writers also wrote Gloria) and in Germany the two shared (and swapped) the 1&2 spot for 6 weeks. Debbie Harry growling, "Oh, I can't control myself" during the final bridge may be the most attractive any human being has ever sounded. Hah that's odd, I was having a similar conversation with my husband on Wednesday and thought 'I should make a UKFF topic about it' and low and behold, someone else did.
