Chico Torres Posted June 5 Posted June 5 The attitude era continues to hold fans hostage, youve got to let that shit go and not want a near-vegetative cripple to have another match. Quote
The King of Old School Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Nobody needs to see Mick Foley in the ring in 2026. I like the idea of The Hangman/MJF Exploding Barb Wire Death Match at Wembley instead. Have Mick Foley hobble to the ring and whack MFJ with a flaming barb wire bat if needs be. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 5 Paid Members Posted June 5 I don’t think anyone wants to see Foley taking risks or big bumps. But AEW is the one company I could trust to put him on a match graphic to shift some tickets and then have everyone else create the movement and take the bumps to hide the fact that all Mick actually did was a bit of brawling, a Mr. Socko spot and then a flaming, barb wire bat shot for the finish. I bet lads like Darby and MJF would be clamouring to kill themselves out of respect for Mick. This is, after all, the same company that put the Leaning Tower of Big Show in a match and managed to make it work. I like to think earlier in the day when they were putting that match together someone suggested that if Paul couldn’t even walk to the ring maybe he could use Kota Ibushi’s bike. ”What? Not even with stabilisers? Fair enough, we’ll shoot a backstage thing instead.” Quote

This is exactly the “marks are now in the locker room” culture that has made wrestling so awful now. The guys a pensioner and effectively brain dead, he doesn’t need to be swinging flaming barbed wire bats at some marks. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted June 5 Paid Members Posted June 5 Do we reckon there’s a chance they pull the plug on Wembley and move it to a smaller venue? Say for instance we’re three weeks out and they’ve still only sold 35,000 tickets or something? MJF can take the credit for his heat generating a bomb threat not seen since Wrestlemania 7. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted June 5 Paid Members Posted June 5 Calm down lads, all that's been reported is that Foley wants wants one more match. He hasn't been medically cleared or booked in anything. Let's save this debate for if/when it happens. Or in the case of Chico's weird "the marks are the boys in the back" thing lets just stop all together. Quote

DavidB6937 Posted June 5 Posted June 5 As if Mick's doing anything but a gauntlet match against the entire women's division. Quote

I'd say it's already too late to make a change beyond the planned set-up being adjusted to maximise what they end up working with. It's more about any plans that they had for 2027 that will have changed. They definitely can't go back to Wembley. 25k just now roughly from the trackers. If they're only at 35k 3 weeks to go they'll be hoping with promotions and papering they'll get it to 2024 levels. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted June 5 Posted June 5 I'd love to go but no reason to buy tickets this early with the way things are going. Hopeful for some price drops on some decent seats. Quote
Chili Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Foley in a big Stadium Stampede match hobbling about with a flaming barbed wire 2x4 is absolutely fine. He doesn't even need to take single bump to 'prove' anything. Quote
Infinity Land Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Until they get some actual matches to promote there's not going to be much difference in the uptick. There's the rest of the month to wait on the challengers for the World titles. While some people will already be predicting Ospreay v. MJF & Thekla v. Mone. Those are the ones that have already bought tickets or playing the waiting game for prices to drop. Quote
