Absolutely. I listen to the Empire movie podcast and they seemingly went from never discussing Mount Rushmore to constantly banging on about it overnight, pretty much. To the point where I pretty much hate the term now.

No, but a basic misunderstanding of the concept has been pervasive enough over time that it now also means that because reasons.

If we’re going by the traditional definition, it becomes much less subjective. Gate receipts, crowd sizes, and merch sales would determine who belongs on it, leaving very little room for debate since it’s all backed by data. By that logic, of course Hogan has to be on there. But it also means no one really gets a say - it's just a numbers game.

On the other hand, if we’re using the more common, informal definition (your top 4 favourites), then my Mt Rushmore would be Savage, Dynamite, Austin, and Bret.

Who are yours?

Is we go by foundation, expansion, development, presevation, no idea. I imagine Hogan would qualify for 3 of those 4 criteria. I imagine Vince McMahon would qualify for all of them. 

If it's just on favourites (I'm saying this enjoying what they did at the time I watched them), I'd go with Hogan, Bret, Austin, Rock.

Just seen they released his cause of death as heart attack but he had a history of leukaemia.

I remember some footage of eighties Hogan making his entrance at MSG. Mean Gene tries to get some last minute words from the Hulkster. Hulk was in no mood to talk and lifted Mean Gene off of his feet moving him aside and marched purposefully into the arena. Can someone point me in the direction of that footage?

Also interested in this. Had it on VHS as a kid, taped off Sky.

He was on the way to the ring to wrestle Orndorff, and says "out of the way Mean Gene!"

Here it is.

The Hogan Orndoff feud was massive and often gets overlooked. Drew very well including the Big Event show in Toronto. Strangely I have it as pre dating the first Wrestlemania. Which is totally wrong. The cause of this timeline misplacement is probably a result of not having great access to the TV shows of that period.

This was me for a while too. With my pre-92 knowledge restricted to Silver Vision and what I read from magazines, with Orndorff wrestling face at Mania 2 and being on Hogan’s team at Survivors 87, I assumed he’d turned face in the wake of WrestleMania/Orton’s cast and stayed that way. It wasn’t, I believe, until I saw him knocking about with The Brain on the Hulk Still Rules tape (2002) that I realized this wasn’t the case.
