WHERE IS IT? MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey

WHAT IS THE CAPACITY OF METLIFE STADIUM? It's currently set up for approx. 51,000 fans on Saturday and 53,000 fans on Sunday but can hold up to approximately. 85,000. Currently, around 48,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday and just over 51,000 for Sunday.

WHAT TIME WILL IT START? 11pm on both nights

I gotta say, I like the logo.

SummerSlam is my favourite PPV. Or was. Very few of the first 10 or so are not way better than WrestleMania. The logo and the tagline give me the feels too. Brilliant stuff.

Gone downhill since it became SummerFest. Shite now.

TBF this is looking like a really decent card.

To me Summerslam always signalled 'start of the end' of summer, I don't like these early August editions. I do like it going to 2 nights though, i much rather 2 shorter shows than one long epic marathon (*looks squarely at AEW*).

I think Summerslam has a place in every British Wrestling fans heart because it was the one PPV every could stay up as it was summer, from age 8 to about 15 i watched with mates, whether at my house or sleepover at someone elses.

I liked when they played up to it being a SUMMER show and made it all bright, sunny and colourful. 

Chrome text against a night sky and office buildings hardly brings that happy summer vibe.

Vaquer/NIkki Bella vs Chelsea Green and one of The Secret Hervice? Or add someone else to make it a 6 woman tag seems likely

Tag titles? No 1 contender match on Raw next week but maybe they'll do the title match on Raw the night after Summerslam like the Triple Threat TLC tag title match was the Smackdown after Wrestlemania 

Think they might be able to squeeze to 7 matches a night so could include 2 tag title matches, one on either night or the US Women's title but nothing really set up for that so probably will be a Smackdown match night before or week after.

Summerslam, lads! The biggest party of the Summer!

The build up may have been rubbish due to them wasting so much time and effort counter-programming AEW, but it’s certainly a much better card than Wrestlemania.

Crazily paced though. Almost all the good stuff has been saved for Night Two. Every gimmick match. Anything that has the potential to really deliver. All saved for Sunday. A real sense of getting through the vegetables (Kross, Jade), and then enjoy your dessert (TLC, Street Fight, Cage Match, Dirty Dom). I know there probably aren’t many people in this situation, with almost everyone on a  buy-one-get-one-free Weekend ticket, but imagine if you could only attend Night One! You’d be gutted!

Night One (“The Pre—Show”)

Night Two (“Fuck yeah!”)

I wanted to hate Jelly Roll, but he’s charmed me. Fun Talk Show angle. Good promos. Delicious Black Hole Slam. Guy clearly loves this and has put the work in. Looking forward to seeing what he delivers on the night. Jelly Roll Destroyer? Fat Boy Moonsault?

I saw this absolutely insane clip for the first time ever the other day, where Vader tried a Shooting Star Press in WCW and went full Brock Lesnar. Go on, Jelly! Give it a go, Mr. Roll! For the love of the game!

Good for Charlotte Flair. This Summerslam match is night and day with her horrible, toxic, mean-spirited one at Wrestlemania with Stratton. This is probably the most I’ve ever enjoyed her. A light, fun, friendly angle that you can tell she’s enjoying, with the crowd earnestly reacting to her as a babyface. Lovely. Who knew pro-wrestling could be nice? Long may it continue. I hope they win the belts. Prediction: it does not continue. They do not win the belts. She turns on Alexa. They cut horrible, aloof, mean spirited, semi-shoot promos on each other starting Friday.

Fair play to Kross. This weird Yes-Movement he cultivated despite being absolutely shit has obviously worked. A Summerslam singles match! Fucking hell! It’ll be another two star affair on the night. Really weird to see someone being pushed due to fan support, despite being completely useless, to the point that they’re simultaneously seemingly playing out his contract, with no intention of signing him to a new deal. Wouldn’t be at all shocked if this is his swan song. Go Control Your Narrative.

What a ridiculous waste of Sami Zayn though. What are we doing here. I attribute this boom period to both Hangman Adam Page and Sami Zayn completely revolutionising what it means to be a top babyface, so it really pulls it into focus when Hangman is the Champion of the Fucking World, whilst Sami is just treading water, wasting time feuding with complete scrubs like Kross.

Tiffany Stratton has her work cut out for her. I wonder if Jade will freeze in the middle of the match, forgetting a spot, like someone has disconnected her controller? Prediction: of course she will. This is probably it for Jade. Officially a failed experiment. We’ll look back at her being this high up the Summerslam card the same way we look back at shitarses like Heidenreich wrestling The Undertaker.

Speaks volumes how little I have to say about Roman’s Tag. Such a huge step down considering last year’s Summerslam was his coming out party as a top babyface. Now he’s in a random Tag Match against Ernie and Ice, the two bullies from, “Hocus Pocus,” who steal kid’s shoes. They should start calling Roman, “Hollywood,” as an insult.

“Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman, and we are going to light the Black Flame Candle….”

But yeah; Roman is so checked out and comes to work so little that I’d consider just having Breakker smash him to bits and win clean. Cash in whilst you still can.

It’s a big night for CM Punk. Finally free of the Seth Vortex, coming off the back of the Saudi Humiliation Tour. Character is on life support. Looked like he was being held at gun point during Hulk Hogan’s ten-bell salute. Hasn’t had a truly great match in ages. Man is in desperate need of a fucking break. Thankfully, he’s got the best partner to have just that. Hoping Gunther gives him a brilliant Meat and Potatoes match, with loads of stiff shots and excellent selling.

Prediction: despite Seth Rollins looming over all of this like a bad smell, I think Punk just goes over clean. Big, Bret-Hart-vs-Diesel performance. Huge win. Raises the belt. They finally reward him for all the shit he’s eaten this year. Let him have a run defending the belt against new, fresh challengers not called Seth Rollins. Stop the trolling. Actually use him for what he’s worth. Honestly, anything else and I think those eye bags are going to take over the world like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

There’s something beautifully nostalgic about a TLC and a Cage Match at Summerslam. Makes me feel twelve years old again. Just a shame things have took a complete 180. Back then, the Summer Holidays meant I could watch it live, not worrying about getting up for school. Now, as a father of two, it’s the complete opposite! The Summer Holidays have ruined this! The kids will be up first thing, wanting to go fucking bowling or some shit, so God knows when I’ll find to watch it!

Good for the TLC Tag lads. It was nothing short of criminal when they were left off the Wrestlemania card. They easily could have found time if they shaved twenty minutes off Travis Scott’s entrance. Statement was made. The TLC on that Friday’s Smackdown was probably the WWE Match of the Year. Looking forward to seeing what bonkers shit they get up to. This will almost certainly steal the show. Prediction: somehow, we see the Hardy Boys. Jeff Hardy gets one more chance. He blows it. Again.

Jacob Fatu vs. Solo might be the best built match on the whole card. Jacob’s so fucking good that he’s just about surviving the rubbish babyface scripting, but the real star is Banter Solo. Man’s hilarious. I still smile thinking about how - within the fiction - the police swerved him, pretending they were going to arrest Jacob before surprising him at the last second. So funny. Match only goes one way, doesn’t it? Flying Samoan on the radar! Cannot wait!

Most exciting thing about AJ Styles v. Dirty Dom is the very likely chance that Dom will get another Wrestlemania-style big reaction. Dom rules. Listen to the crowd when he invaded Triple A! Latino Heat!

Sky is the limit for both Becky vs. Lyra and the Women’s Triple Threat. All of Becky and Lyra’s matches have been great, with this likely being the blow off where Becky puts her over huge. She’s a good egg, our Bex. Pressure is on Naomi though. Considering how amazing the Triple Threat was with Bianca at Wrestlemania, they’ll be hard pressed to top it here. Fingers crossed.

No Ron Killings on this show? Despite it definitely being a work all along, with them definitely wanting to build the Summer around him? Weird. Definitely.

Call me a fool, but I’ve got relatively high hopes for Cena vs. Cody. They’ll be very aware of how badly they shat the bed at Wrestlemania. You can all but hear it in Cody’s promos. Plus, with Travis Scott banished to the Phantom Realm (“Leeds Festival”), the coast is clear for them to redeem themselves.

Cody’s proven he has it in him. Re-run the stinker and deliver greatness. The blueprint is there!

Prediction: they call it a day on this retched Heel Cena run. After a wild blood bath, filled with shortcuts, John Cena does some super hammy acting where he decides to play fair, eventually losing clean. They hug afterwards. Cody no longer wants John Cena as a nemesis or a hero. He wants him as a brother.

Hang on though! Can you smell Overpushed Mediocrity? Burn it down! I still fully suspect the Seth thing is a work. I think he cashes in here, although I doubt they get as far as ringing the bell. He’ll run out to cash in, but the Super Best Friends of Cody, Cena and Roman will run them off. That can be the Autumn direction. Team Mount Rushmore against Seth and the Bronson Bunch. Cena goes out as a babyface, his obvious limitations hidden in multi-man matches, and we get back to a WWE with Cody Rhodes leading the charge.

Happier times. We’re back, baby!

Great post, and I’m optimistic that they’ll ditch this, although Im half-expecting a double turn, with Rock returning to side with Cody, only to bugger off again with no explanation as to why he was there in the first place.

I don't know what to expect really. I'd hope they wouldn't go down the Rock/Cody route, but to be honest there was so many smug talking heads about surprising people on that Unreal thing that I bet they'd think they were the smartest people in the world if they did that.

Absolutely shouldn't happen though. Cody's nowhere near done being a babyface people like. No one seems to be getting bored of it so they don't need to pull the trigger on that until it feels necessary.
