Not going to lie, in completing a “last Cena match” set where they’ve already done Orton and Punk, I assumed Reigns would be the final temptation. I wasn’t expecting Bork.

Unsettling, given his complicit role in Jr’s horror show (regardless that he never actually met Ms Grant) but I’m not too proud to admit I left my morals at the door decades ago, so will obviously be interested in how it plays out in the story.

Bret was right, Triple H has never had an original idea in his life.

I thought Cena and Cody was great. Great shift by Cena.  Despite the whole story being a mess.  They never really sold the Cody piledriver on commentary. They put each other over as babyfaces at the end.  What now? 

The rest of the two nights were pretty poor.   I can't believe Jelly Roll gave away his two moves of doom on Smackdown, and saved nothing for the PLE.  I was waiting for an RollKO and it never came.

And speaking of people like that getting a free pass, I’d been all set to say positive things about Summerslam night 2, funnily enough because of the women’s matches.

But I can’t do that though, as WWE showed us with that ending, women don’t matter.

EDIT: @OzExile - I’d initially thought this, but go back and read the lawsuit - some of the allegations made against Lesnar are bleak.

I've just thought for two more seconds after posting and retracted it. Absolutely right what others have said. It is grim.

Don't read the screenshots if this subject matter is a trigger point, but if you can stomach it and didn't have the full details of Lesnar's connection to the story (I didn't until recently) this is it.

Utterly horrible.

Obviously there is enough there for people to say 'well what did he actually do wrong', or whatever... but for me, whilst this is still ongoing it's absolutely mental they'd even consider bringing him back. At least let it reach a resolution, surely?

'Let the system decide whether he was an active participant in the sexual trafficking of another human being before we put him back on TV' shouldn't ever be the losing argument.

God bless Triple H, though. Shithouse until the end. Not only did he kill off press conferences for this, in his staged interviews after the show he basically said 'we didn't even consider it but John was insistent'.

Awful. Just awful.

Night One looked a bit shit on paper, and then was equally a bit shit in execution. Considering this was the first TWO NIGHT~! Summerslam, it failed massively as proof of concept. This did not need to be two nights. A solid majority of this show could have been on Raw or Smackdown next week.

Cardi B with the most obvious use of a teleprompter in the history of the sport. Incredibly fitting that it was at The SummerFest, too. Jeremy Piven spinning in his grave.

Opening Tag was fun. There’s no denying what a superstar Roman Reigns is. Shame he only works three times a year. Another rough night for Bron & Bron Security failing to catch people on dives though. It’s becoming a bit of a pattern. Considering how much they’ve teased calling Seth’s group, “The Vision,” there’s a real sense of ChuckleVision with these two clowns constantly dropping people on dives. Tope to me! Tope to you!

There wasn’t much to the Women’s Tag, but at least they got the finish right. I didn’t trust they even knew what they had with this Charlotte/Alexa thing. It’s the highlight of Charlotte’s career.

A rough night for the Karrion Kross Krew. At least when us OG’s campaigned for Daniel Bryan to get a fair shake he proved to be the best wrestler of all time. Must feel really silly campaigning for Kross to get a big push when this is his pay per view effort. The man doesn’t have it. Never has. Never will. Pull the plug.

Similarly, this was one of the better Jade Cargill matches and still absolutely nothing to write home about. I’d pull the plug here, too. She’s hit her ceiling. Losing clean in such a short match, you sense they know it, too. She’ll be dancing and doing crap comedy this time next year.

Quite funny that they seemed to trust Jelly Roll more than they did Jade Cargill. He was given far more to do. A solid Celebrity Showing from our Jelly. Wild table bump. Those new announce tables look like absolute hell to bump through. Like falling onto a PlayStation 3.

Good main event. CM Punk looks fucking ancient, but they make it work. There was a real sense of a Young Hooligan beating up a Pensioner here. Each Powerbomb looked like he might actually die.

Fuck me though. The Bog of Eternal Seth.  Even knowing it was likely coming, it was still the biggest boner killer of all time. Triple H is never going to let it go, is he? Punk’s character is going to be made to look a complete idiot, forever feuding with Seth, until the end of time. The amount of time and effort that’s gone into elongating this feud, you’d think these two had some type of chemistry or something, but they don’t. It’s mediocre shit every single time. For two years straight.

This CM Punk run will go down in history as one of the biggest balls ups of all time. Honestly, I’d rate it alongside The Invasion in terms of getting handed a hot hand and doing everything possible to cool it down.

Sounds like they worked the boys in order to sell this Seth injury, and even that didn’t work. Anyone who’s watched enough of this could smell what was happening. It’s truly fascinating how creative downturns always bring about bollocks like this. It’s as if every booker has a Break Glass In Case of Emergency box, filled with the worst worked shoot nonsense that’ll never, ever work, but it’ll make you think you’re smarter than you are, to comfort you during the dark times.

Night Two will be better, right? They won’t do anything really fucking stupid, will they?

The normalisation of sexual misconduct allegations (and worse) really bothers me. While what Lesnar’s accused of is not at this scale, I’m convinced that, if the Jimmy Savile allegations emerged today, there would be a sizeable portion of people - your GB News types - defending him and his legacy by tying it all in to ‘woke’. 

In wrestling, it feels like the legacy of Me Too is fairly non-existent. You have the Lesnar return. Vince McMahon is still looked upon fondly be far too many. Ric Flair is treated like a legend by both WWE and AEW, rather than the pariah he should be. There are multiple wrestlers who were the subjects of grave allegations who are still enjoying careers at a high level today. Male wrestlers are treated like the most important part of both WWE and AEW, despite the fact the women in both frequently outshine their male counterparts. 

Something needs to change.

I was all ready to come on and write about how impressed I was by Cena and that the match was exactly what I wanted from a last Cena run. I thought they'd got it right there, and actually felt like Summerslam could've been a pretty strong one night event.

I was sat waiting for The Rock to come and fuck it up or something obviously. Then they brought back the final piece of the puzzle to return to WWE of old.

To all - I apologise for having any faith that the company could be better. What a shitshow.

I've suffered through too much shit and kept on watching to ever declare myself fully done, but I definitely left Summerslam thinking there isn't much on the shows for me currently. Seth is the posterchild for Monday nights, and Brock is back on Fridays. Not for me.
