TheScarlettChad Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Maybe not a gimmick battle royal but a mid carder one. There wasn't many cartoony gimmicks in the 2000s but there were plenty memorable characters Quote
LEGIT Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 (edited) Commentary by Jerry Lawler and Jonathan Coach (filling in for JR) Ring announcer Lilian Garcia (Justin Roberts and Tony Chimel are in AEW) Featuring: Zach Gowen Maven Daniel Puder The Heart Throbs El Grande Americano's cousin El Grande Luchadore The Bushwacker that's still alive K-Kwik Tatanka if he still wrestlers Butterbean Furface ...and more... Basically someone "wins" then Coach from commentary runs in and eliminates them, Coach then thinks he's won but in a further twist Santino (or possibly Santina) had been hiding under the ring the whole time and he/she runs in and wins, righting the wrongs of Royal Rumble 2011. Santino/Santina celebrates and the crowd goes home happy. Book it Edited June 25, 2025 by LEGIT Quote
jm29195 Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 (edited) Great to so many replies, and there's several really obvious ones that I completely forgot. Hurricane, Santino etc. You'd have to have a Heenan/Okerlund duo on commentary too, so that would Jim Ross and Lawler. I wonder if they'll actually do one, one of these days? Nostalgia is more popular than ever! Last time they did one that I can recall was this chestnut in 2007 (thanks Cagematch): 15th Anniversary Battle Royal: Ted DiBiase defeats Al Snow and Bart Gunn and Bob Backlund and Doink and Flash Funk and Gangrel and Gillberg and Irwin R. Schyster and Jim Neidhart and Pete Gas and Repo Man and Scotty 2 Hotty and Sgt. Slaughter and Skinner and Steve Blackman and The Goon (5:45) 2007, which of course is now 18 years ago itself, or further away than 1984 was in 2001! ? Edited June 25, 2025 by jm29195 Removed a duplicate Jim Ross! Quote

Looking forward to Bam Neely making an appearance and then eliminated by Jackson Andrews. Mine is in no particular order, just who came to mind first: 1. Naked Mideon 2. Super Crazy 3. Rico 4. Scotty 2 Hotty 5. Luke Gallows as Fake Kane 6. The Sandman 7. Kizarny 8. King Booker 9. Santino 10. Headbanger Mosh 11. Festus 12. Curry Man (fuck it, why not) 13. Mr Kennedy 14. Perry Saturn w/ Moppy 15. Goldust Fuck it, mine only has 15. I can see why some of you put the likes of Heideinreich in there. I did, you've got to have a few who?!? Moments in there. Especially considering the time period we were looking at. Someone like Ortiz is a great gap between two big entrance pops and then an easy target for our the battle royale first. Besides the guy married Layla so he's done alright! Quote

Rikishi (He’s in it for the Rock) They couldn't even medically clear him to do a Stinkface on the Old School episode of Raw in 2019. Can't imagine they'll have much luck six years on! The main thing stopping a lot of the suggestions from being included is that people really underestimate how old, physically knackered and out of shape these guys are now (even for a battle royal). I reckon some would have the Iron Sheik issue of not being able to get over the top rope. Quote

Some of the people being suggested here aren’t really gimmicks though…where’s the gimmick with Eziekiel Jackson, or Zack Gowen, for example? Same goes for Hardcore Holly, unless he came back as Sparky Plugg. Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted June 29, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 29, 2025 You can put together a reasonable line- up of 20 guys who are arguably: - gimmicky enough, - recognisable enough, - still capable of doing enough in the ring to get by for something like this; just using people who are in some way contracted to WWE (per their Wikipedia page, sectioned as there) so they probably wouldn't have to pay much beyond travel etc. "Ambassadors" Armando Estrada Boogeyman Reverend D-Von (not Bubba cos fuck Bubba) Godfather (maybe as Papa Shango) Hornswoggle Mosh Thrasher Tatanka Creative Team Drake Maverick (pulling the 24/7 title out of a bin on the way to the ring establish his gimmickyness) Announce Team Bad News Barrett Kung Fu Naki Producers Abyss (given the TNA link & putting him in the video game) Jamie Noble (redneck) Kenny (Spirit Squad) Bobby Roode (stretch but "The Glorious" is kinda gimmicky and the music would get a pop) Daivari The Hurricane PC Staff Lord Tensai Screamin' Norman Smiley Tyler Breeze Quote
