This was less a Wrestlemania and more an episode of Raw. Some quick thoughts;

Jey was always going to win and is so over. But he is dreadful as a singles guy, has the worst spear and Yeet is even worse than the what chants.

New Day vs War Raiders was decent but never got going up the gears  

Naomi has great music. I’m all in on Heavy Metal Naomi.

Jacob Fatu should’ve murdered LA Knight. Hopefully Knight can fuck off now.

Kit clash between Fenix and Chad Gable. Even Fenix’s tattoos couldn’t help me tell them apart at times. And commentary can’t do subtlety. Cole ramming it down our throats that Gable is El Grande Americano (which was said about a thousand times) and Pat and Barrett playing dumb in such a hammy way. Monsoon and Heenan this was not.

Tiffany and Charlotte in another kit clash. One of them should’ve had an away kit on them. Sloppy match. Tiffany needs to get on the phone to Britt Baker.

Bret Hart’s face after shaking hands with Triple H was brilliant. He hates him so much. 

Loved the Video package and entrance for CM Punk. Main event was always going to be good. And that’s exactly what it was. Just ‘good’. Difficult for a triple threat match to mean much without any stakes. Or be anywhere as good as the 2004 triple threat main event. But I suppose they were fighting over the love of smelly Alfred Hitchcock. And in the end, Sean Walsh won his heart. Dinners on you, Seth.

Barrett saying it was the outcome no one predicted. Plenty of people predicted Heyman would align with Rollins.

A crap Wrestlemania. Hopefully night 2 is better. I’m going to try and learn a new language by tomorrow night so I don’t have to hear that commentary team again. Or at least get Tommy Dreamer out there with his gun.

after the Gunther match I couldnt take any more so stuck the show on mute and put Lady Gaga on a pair of headphones. It was impossible to gauge how good anything was or what was going on or why but I had a really good time and that's all that matters

I've not watched a full WWE show for a few years now, but seeing as Netflix makes it so easy, I thought I'd give it a go. I only vaguely keep up with what's happening, so I was as curious to see their catch-up vignettes as the matches themselves. Naturally I came to the only logical conclusion: El Grande Americano is the best and should be main eventing as heel champion. I want to see him recreate all Rey's career highlights but reimagined in an evil doppelganger way. Mostly he needs to compete in a ladder match against Dominik Mysterio in which the loser is forced to take custody of a child neither of them wants to look after.

Seth siding with Paul was so predictable that the unpredictable thing would if he DIDN'T side with him. Fucking crap.

Decided to check out WrestleMania since it's  on Netflix — first WWE event I’ve watched in years.

First off, way too much advertising and long gaps between matches. It really dragged at times. For a PPV, there just weren’t enough actual matches, and most of them didn’t really hit the mark.

WALTER (I can't call him Gunther) looks incredible though, what a transformation — easily one of the highlights. The main event was alright, but honestly, Punk’s capable of way better. Wouldn’t even put it in my top 3 televised matches this week. And sloppy camera work twice in the closing segments showing him grinning from ear to ear on his back after losing.

Tiffany Stratton brings nothing to the table apart from her looks. Felt bad for Charlotte — she deserves a more compelling opponent.

Didn’t mind the commentary, though — decent energy throughout trying to sell an average product. And I’ve got to say, Jade Cargill has clearly grown since jumping to WWE. She didnt stink...and the only AEW match of hers that stands out more than this was her last one before leaving.

The set was genuinely impressive. Big spectacle as expected. But that theme music? Absolutely awful — generic rap that doesn’t fit the vibe at all. Bring back the 2000s nu-metal era — Limp Bizkit, Drowning Pool, even Saliva. That stuff fit.

Honestly, the product just isn’t for me anymore at 44 years old. That said, I’ll probably stick on part 2 tonight since it’s free and I don’t have work tomorrow. May as well see how they get the title off Cody.

HOT TAKE : that was alright, actually. Bell to bell, I enjoyed everything I’ve watched properly and none of the results made me shake my head in confusion or frustration.

Result of Saturday Night’s Main Event was interesting, turn may have been predictable but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, sometimes “how” can be as interesting as “what” they do. Match ended up in another video game L2 spamfest as we knew it would, but I decided to enjoy it anyway. Let’s just hope the OTC has a couple more dates to fill this side of the Charity Shield, Romans Revenge really can’t be spun out too long after he took the pin, it really wouldn’t be creatively satisfying if he sat on his arse for another 7-8 weeks as Rollins inevitably gloats on telly every week.

…. Jokes aside, Seth’s on Raw, right? Tell me winning a match this big doesn’t justify him taking first shot at Uso. Stakes don’t have to be explicit in a fake sport with no league table and invisible rankings, sometimes winning a big match gets you going places.
