Yeah King is great. His promos are a bit ropey though, that's the one hole in his game.

I think that’s a pretty significant barrier in AEW. As much as they value ring work, I can’t think of one male wrestler who has got to the top in that company who hasn’t been able to hold their own in a promo segment. I really like Brodie King, but I can’t fully get behind the idea that he’s being underutilised, until he proves that he has it in him to cut a killer promo. And maybe he will one day, I wouldn’t have thought Ricochet had it in him to be anywhere near as strong a heel as he is.

I mean, it's a pretty significant barrier in US wrestling generally, but I think with AEW in particular, they've got tonnes of guys who are capable of regular 4* matches, but not loads who can get the people in the building, so it makes sense they'd prioritise that.

That said, there are obviously ways to use charisma without saying a word, and I think Brodie could get over, yes even to the main event, if he started being presented more like Goldberg or the Undertaker. Not in terms of the winning streak, necessarily, but in terms of smashing people, denying the opportunity to talk and just using his aura and mystique. It's trickier, and needs more creativity, but it's doable with the right talent, and I think Brody King could be that guy.

Interesting idea. I think the problem with that though is generally you need to be presented that way from the word go. It's kinda hard to start doing that when someone has already been on the roster for a few years already. But with some creativity it might be doable.

You're definitely right there. I think Brody's presentation is close enough, and the split from Black is giving an opportunity to do that repackage, but it'll definitely take longer to bed in than it would with brand new guy.

It's difficult, but has been done - just needs a storyline "hook". Kane, for example, was refreshed when they removed his mask and he went on a rampage. Mark Henry, after having been on the roster doing not much notable for ages other than Sexual Chocolate, became the monster he was built to be with the Hall of Pain, and putting a bit of "stank" on his finish.

With a character like that, just have him get a new "coach", or maybe have him go away for a little while with an angle where he gets beaten and someone tells him it's because he's lost sight of who he is or that he’s a big fraud or whatever, then have him come back with a vengeance, vengeance being a beat-down and a menacing promo.

Most interesting thing about Mox vs. Cope (other Mox’s trousers, obviously) is how far they’ll go to save their embarrassment from bombing at the pay per view. Flaming table? A stupid, massive ladder bump? Or, the only logical conclusion to the Plastic Bag Bandits.

I admire Mox's dedication. I admire his work ethic. I even admire the fact they wanted to do better. Fair enough. Unfortunately the only thing ill remember out of all that is something I'd rather forget.

Anyway thought the women had a great night.

A spot where if Toni and Mariah did it during their match at the PPV I’d have thought, urgh that’s going a bit far. Mox out here doing it on their free TV in a rematch against a past it Edge. What is he thinking.
