With all of the ‘colourful’ characters in wrestling, which eras do you think would make the best backstage drama series?

Absolutely want an AEW backstage series in the vein of The Office. Lovely Tony Khan trying to be friends with everyone while still putting on a successful wrestling show, Daniel Bryan & Chris Jericho as Jim & Dwight. Guest appearance by CM Punk throwing a hand grenade into the social dynamics. David Zaslav hit me up, I'll write a 22 episode outline for a very reasonable price

I mean, the 80s and 90s would be the best for Netflix and the like with all the drug use and sex that went on. Although I'm not sure drugging and raping women and shitting in people's food would get the green light (for very good reasons) but Perry Saturn and Ravens 'Rhino' escapade in a hotel room corridor might make for an interesting episode....

A semi-kayfabe'd Atsushi Onita drama (it has to be full of lies, to be realistic), following the build of FMW and attempts to get into political power and maybe a sub-plot where he actually killed Hayabusa by shooting him with a tranq dart mid flight.

Wasn't Nigel McGuinness working on a wrestling drama show at one point? 

A drama based around key points in ECW history could be interesting. 

Can I go off-piste a little and propose a sitcom based around the dying days of WCW?

A genuine dream project for me would be a historical drama around the time of the two Gotch and Hackenschmidt matches; some mad characters, wheeling and dealing, drama, the works.

It was a kickstarter to create a pro wrestling show with a season structure like "24" or "Lost" with character building and narrative beats matching that approach.

To my memory it was one if those things that likely sounded revolutionary, but was really just another promotion.

I’ve seen a few AI posts stating Netflix are doing a fictional drama on the Brothers of Destruction backstory.

A story of personal tragedy not unlike the Joker movie, maybe in a mini-series form. Called "The Life and Fables of Marty Jannetty."

I would enjoy based on the height of the territories, maybe told from the point of the view of the territory owners Verne and Fritz and Stu etc

You could combine the craziness of all the stories that come out at the time, with the great in ring action, them holding their territories with an iron like grip, then later seasons you can have the death of the territories and how it affected their talents families and income etc

Needs to be a romcom that ends with Jannetty finding out his daughter isn’t his daughter and then them living happily ever after.
