Put aside the Flair leaving context from 35 years ago; Ricky Morton vs Ricky Gibson is a great match, Freebirds vs Southern Boys and Dustin Rhodes is a fun 6 man and Luger vs Windham is a good main event and the start of the real Attitude (Adjustment) era (July 1991 to Feb 1992). It's fine, but a massive disappointment. The decent matches almost get in the way on this show. The fascination is the booking and the mad variety of characters that died on their arse. Oz, Big Josh, Black Blood, Dick Murdoch & Dick Slater dressed like removal men. Missy Hyatt in a main event booked in an area where you couldn't have her in the match. Luger's coronation going straight into a heel turn. A Scaffold Match using a big copout stip AND PN News in the match. It's the best bad PPV. Edited June 21 by Chili Quote

Dai Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Speaking of old Steve, this match with HBK theyve just uploaded is rubbish, isnt it? Crowd isnt in to Steve much in this one too. Considering its June 97, its not exactly a huge pop for his entrance. The whole show is never looked upon with great fondness, and its easy to see why. Outisde of Foleys performance, there isnt much to shout about with this one. Quote

Just given it a watch, the audio mixing doesn't sound great because Howard Finkel is pretty muted on Austin's entrance as well, plus there's a bunch of Austin signs. Absolutely rubbish finish aside, I enjoyed the match a lot and it felt like something that wouldn't have been massively out of place in WCW circa 1992. Quote

That's a curiosity of mine I've never really asked about but I think came up on here a while ago. Austin didn't really seem to click into overdrive until after the Owen match where he got hurt. He seemed to have rising popularity between Survivors 96 and then but I don't recall the bigger reactions until later (like previously mentioned on here) when he was brawling, running in and giving people stunners etc because he couldn't actually "wrestle" anymore. I guess he had to show less arse as every bump would be a risk. Watching back it's up until mid-1999 that his pops seem muted by what they would become. I've never understood if that was because of older tech or just a gradual change in fan reactions. EDIT: His WM14 pop is far bigger than I remember. Suffers badly with it being babyface vs babyface with the real villains of the piece nowhere to be found, but I always found it more entertaining than the title match at Mania XIV. Probably because I wince every time Michaels takes a flat back bump knowing that the “selling” is very legitimate agony. Quote

Nothing really earth shattering in terms of rarities or anything but you can’t really make a bad Shawn Michaels compilation can you? I completely forgot about the Jeff Hardy match on Raw in 2008 ( or was it 09?) and where Jeff actually beat him clean. Wasn’t really expecting to see the Buddy Landel match from SMW included so that was a nice little addition. The Jeff Jarrett match from In Your House 2 is on there, always worth a rewatch. Think the only match I’d actually never seen before was the Rockers vs Andre and Haku one. Find it quite amusing that they’ve since uploaded a comp of The Undertaker 2001/02 called ‘The Story Of Big Evil’ or some shite. Definitely won’t be bothering with that. Aside from a handful of exceptions, I hated that run. Quote
