Although I still have an awful flashback that I'd arranged to borrow a copy off a school friend after it aired on Sky. Was all excited to watch it and rushed home with it to find he'd recorded it in on Long Play - not being so technically advanced in our household not only did we not have Sky, but ours was a spazzy old VCR with no long play capabilities. Was absolutely gutted. Whilst we're here, not only are the opening matches superb, as is the Rumble itself, but it's the opening of the glorious year of 1991. For years I always dismissed it, thinking that 1992 was far superior. But I have changed my mind and now rate 1991 as highly - what a great year of characters, angles and quite a few good matches too. It's a lot of fun. Quote
Chili Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Yeah 1991 is the first time live attendance and viewership take a bit of a hit and suddenly they start doing a Hulkamania proto attitude era with some angles of note below as a few examples. Earthquake squashing Damien, The Mountie electrocuting Bret Hart after throwing water on him, Slaughter throwing a fireball, Taker and Jake crashing the wedding, Warrior buried in the casket, Flair smashing Piper and Vince with a steel chair at the comms desk, Hogan getting tombstoned on the Funeral Parlour floor and obviously when Jake Roberts tried to kill the Macho Man via cobra. Brilliant year, shame Survivors is a bit bollocks, Summerslam '91 was my first ever big show I watched and regardless of nostalgia goggles, it's a SUPERB show. Edited January 20 by Chili Quote
