Hello, What's this about?

Punk cut a promo the night after Wrestlemania saying he wouldn’t be taking a vacation, then hasn’t been seen since. He’s been gone longer than Brock Lesnar stayed retired. All whilst rumours are swirling of TKO cutting everyone’s pay, and a close friend of Punk’s in Kofi peacing out of the company.

There’s every chance there’s nothing to it, but considering main eventing Wrestlemania felt like his final goal, you wonder if he’s now got less incentive to play the game and eat all the shit he’s put up with since returning to WWE.

That’s not to say the Punker has been sitting on his couch this whole time. These recent pics someone got of him suggest he hasn’t left the gym since Wrestlemania! He’s jacked as fuck!

Would be funny if he returned to AEW and spear-headed the return of Meat Madness.

It's obviously never going to happen, but the missed opportunity of Punk's AEW run still haunts me. So much good stuff (and money) left on the table. Alas.

I don't think there's any risk of FTR going back to WWE, it's just a news story because they're in their option year. I'm sure WWE are interested, and I'm sure FTR (or their agent) would at least entertain offers from them, but unless CM Punk manages to convince them that the grass is far greener than it is (and that's assuming that Punk is happy there, which I'm starting to doubt), I don't see them going anywhere.

In AEW they almost certainly get to be part of Cope & Cage's retirement match, and will be set up as the team to beat for anyone else coming in - be that New Day, Motor City Machine Guns, or anyone else in the future - while in WWE they maybe get to wrestle Fraxiom on Smackdown and then not make a PPV card for months. It's hardly an embarrassment of riches for tag team wrestling in WWE, and the biggest name teams are all still there from last time FTR were there, so it's not like there's a big clamour to see them against The Usos.

Do you think Punk could leave WWE? I don't understand what makes you think he's unhappy? I've not been keeping up with the product since Mania but hasn't he not been on TV?

As impossible as CM Punk returning to AEW feels right now, it’s no more impossible than CM Punk returning to WWE felt for nearly a decade.

With a proper HR department (LOL), AEW is still, and always will be, the most perfect place for CM Punk to produce his best work. Even main eventing Wrestlemania in an absolute ripper, nothing compares to that first six months or so in AEW. As magic as it gets. Better than Rocky 4.

Didn't see this response, thanks for answering! Interesting. Would AEW take him back?

Absolutely, he's not a fucking goober like Alistair Black, and even though AEW isn't ran by a complete loon who takes people back because they tell him to fuck off or spark him out in the past, he'd want to make money and also the perception. Get him back on Colission. Ricky Starks looking on, face and hands pressed against the window.

Whilst it really doesn't matter, the mad reactions online would be a sensational lark

I don’t know if they would take him back to be honest, at least not at the moment. They’re in a very good place with an excellent roster, and there’s a feel good factor around the company - something Punk helped destroy last time he was there. As much as I’d like to see Punk/Swerve, Punk/Ospreay and a Punk/MJF continuation, if I were Tony Khan, I wouldn’t consider the risk worthwhile.

I’d take Cody back, though.

I’d be absolutely gobsmacked if they moved to WWE. What would they stand to gain from it?

More money? Extremely doubtful.

Increased prominence? Ask Motor City Machine Guns how that worked out - or even New Day after their heel turn.

Job security? Again, ask New Day about that.

A better schedule? Again, very unlikely.

It’s no surprise that WWE would be interested in them, but it would be one of the strangest jumps ever. I can’t see it happening.

Yeah.

As recent events have shown, any deal FTR sign with TKO/WWE wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on.

Oh it does matter, The WWE fanboys and Punk fanboys would have be an hysterical war to witness online. He should go back for that alone. I have a mate who when Punk was fired for being a nutcase, went on a long Facebook rant how its all The Bucks fault, and then thanking Triple H for bringing Punk back. His fans are something else.

The next part of Punk's career is going to be teaching at the Performance Centre. Instilling a hatred of the Young Bucks into a new generation of former footballers and gymnasts and hanging around the bins with Brookside, Regal and Finlay.

A reference that Punk would think you were weird for making.

Fixed.
