Seems like the perfect time to be doing this, Keir.

Shame, he can’t cross over the floor to threateningly glare at women any more. This wouldn’t be Labour freeing up a safe seat for a preferred factional crony would it?  He was Brighton as well so they probably have Izzard lined up for another go. Fucking hell.

At the moment, turning up to vote but vomiting all over the ballot seems the best option.

Careful - the law says the mark on the paper doesn't specifically have to be an X, so a Returning Officer would be within their rights to interpret that as a vote for Reform.

"Out of the blue" seems to be an appropriate phrase here.

The aforementioned self confessed “Zionist shitlord” Luke Akehurst was apparently pencilled in for the seat so anything that fucks him up is a wonderful thing.

Durham North has had 2  MPs since the constituency was formed and they’ve both been Labour. It’s a pretty safe seat it’s fair to say.

A wretched cunt of a man.

Is all the focus on Zionism, and in the case of the recent Mayoral/local elections, the opinions from heavily Muslim populated areas, because of the ongoing conflict with Isreal/Palestine or is it something that would be happening regardless?

We all knew there would be a GE this year, the announcement of July may have caught them on the hop. Earlier on in the year, Sunak had indicated it would be around December time. Labour had lots of time to purge.

The optics of this purge of the left by Labour is really poor. Has Sunak caught them on the hop by his GE announcement?

No. Starmer's trying to turn them into a centre-right party and being successful in doing so.

Everyone knew an election was coming, the timing was a little up in the air but people knew it was coming at some point. Starmers purge is just coming to light to try and cover for the number of Tories standing down to make them look equally shambolic. Even in that case though, it's been known our Tory MP was standing down for ages, they parachuted in an ex-army bloke to win the safe seat and that had happened ages ago but it's still not stopping people talking as if he's one who's just made up his mind to stand down recently. I'm not going to say that Labour aren't looking incompetent at all but I'm sure in a few cases that this has been a part of the "rebrand" process for a while now rather than "oh bollocks, the election is coming let's start purging people quickly!"

This angle is definitely having an effect. I'm not sure how prevalent it actually is.

Labour are making very right leaning decisions. This does seem to have been happening for a while.
