It genuinely baffles me how Rowling's opinion has been given such weight. A child's author who hasn't written anything in years yet people are seemingly waiting with baited breath to comment on her latest tweets/comments. Look at the posts on here, people lap her shit up.

I imagine it all comes down to donations. She's mates with Gordon Brown and has donated large sums to Labour in the past. She came out early saying she's struggling to support them and what do you know suddenly she's meeting with them.

I don't even get why they're meeting with her since it doesn't take a lot of reading between the lines to see that Starmer agrees with her, but has to look like he's doing something to court the LGBTQ+ vote.

Keir Starmer is so frustratingly vague and says so little of substance, if you were mad it'd be almost enough to make you feel sorry for Rishi Sunak. It must be like debating a kid who just says 'I know you are but what am I!' to the point you want to just throw him out of a window.

What a horrible choice for this country, really.

I don't think it's this at all tbh.

The biggest criticism he's faced on the doorstep has been that he 'can't even explain what a woman is'. They're desperate to win back the red wall/traditional Labour voters. The main complaint at the last election was that Labour had abandoned them & just care about minorities. This is them trying to avoid those same complaints.

You assume that's the case. Hypothetically if they even did (they won't), that's a tiny % of the electorate.

The crowd during this debate was very much to the right of the spectrum. Some absolutely mad questions, and both of them came out looking pretty bad. 

 

Not content with the terfy dogwhistle question about women, the presenter then had to double-doon just to make absolutely clear that was what they were talking about. 

 

Pathetic from both of them. I'm really annoyed that the Green Party candidate from my area hasn't responded to my email, because it's making me reluctant to vote for him.

Fair play to anyone that made it through that. I tapped out before the halfway point and put the Georgia/Portugal game on.

Another awfully hosted debate featuring the same questions we've had at all of them and the same answers we've had at all of them. Starmer looked like an idiot tonight though because Sunak had some sort of fight in him. It seems the Tories have found the way to really push Starmer's buttons is to just go "Ok so what is your plan" and watch him flail about in his own piss for five minutes.

They're like pullstring dolls with only one or two phrases. "Smash those vile gangs" and "Labour are raising your taxes".

I believe someone asked a question after I stopped watching along the lines of "Are you two really the best this country has?" and that's probably the best question that's been asked the whole campaign.

I'm 40 years old now so really should be past the "old people have shitty opinions" stage, but I really don't get why some are so obsessed with 'Arthur' as the BBC's Election theme and got apoplectic when it was dropped between 2006-2019.

This was much better imo.
