I'm taking the eldest to a gig Friday in Hammersmith so after some food recommendations.

Something quick, and doesn't even need to be a sit down place to be honest, happy with sandwich, sub, takeaway etc recs too. Hammersmith only mind, cba to get off anywhere else.

Spent a lot of time that way when I was younger, but it's been so long that last time I was in London I didn't even know how to pay for the bus.

Yes I will be going to see the bench.

Heard good things about this place:

There's a kebab shop on the corner right by Hammersmith Apollo that is absolutely banging (or at least used to be).

There's a Souvlaki place by Hammersmith square that's really nice.

Plus the usual; Burrito by the station, Subway by the station etc

But I used to go to the Souvlaki place by the square on my lunch break and it was superb.

Also, on Lyric Square @SuperBacon there's a place called Baba G. That's my recommendation for something quick actually.

No. You might find something, but I'd be surprised.

You're honestly best going a couple of zones out and tubing in. Somewhere like Finsbury Park is only 10 mins from King's Cross anyway.

Anybody got any recommendations for accommodation that’s relatively central and somewhat decent that doesn’t cost a fortune ?

Thank you in advance.

We stayed here for last year's AEW Wembley show. Not sure if that's central enough for you. Very pleasant.

Tomorrow I'm staying in Chingford (PunkStep has already turned me down for a date :( ) so I'll be getting the Victoria line to Walthamstow Central, and then to be honest I'll probably walk (only around half an hour) to the hotel.

I have of course scouted all the coffee shops and cafes and have a couple in mind but if anyone has any recommendations that'd be great.

Just to be clear as I'm on a slight timetable, it'll be from Walthamstow Central to the Holiday Inn North Circular, and I won't be deviating, so keep your suggestions in other parts of that area to yourself ?

That is incredibly specific and niche! Good luck.

I mean, if I've calculated this correctly I'll be walking the entirety of Walthamstow high street which shows an absolute shed load of places to eat and drink. I think. I dunno, even growing up in "London" very rarely have I had to visit there or nearby (Tottenham being the exception)

Are you walking down Hoe St from Central? If so there's tonnes of coffee shops and food places etc. As memory serves (I've not been in the area for a few years, but I lived and hung out there a lot pre-Covid) it gets a bit more sketchy once you get the other side of The Bell heading towards Chingford itself, although saying that it's been a good few years since I've been that side as I don't live local anymore, so it might be nicer now. I remeber round as you get up to the Dog and Duck was always a bit shite.

There was a wanky Nordic coffee shop selling open faced sandwiches for exorbitant prices right by The Bell, Wynwood something or other, but the coffee was good.

Don't bother with Cake Box on Hoe St, it's shite.

Should you be inclined, just up from that hotel (past Sainsburys, and on the other side of the A406) is a Dinosaur themed crazy gold course and a cracking Turkish restuarant. Both good fun.

All this info might be woefully out of date, apologies if so!

I'm not massively familiar with Walthamstow in general, but Ye Olde Rose & Crown pub on Hoe Street (yes, yes) is a local institution. It's just round the corner from W'stow Central station.

EDIT: Wait a second. I COMPLETELY FORGOT. The William Morris Gallery is in Walthamstow, and is not far from you. That is most certainly worth a visit if you like your art and design.
