CM Punk chat

Can't they both want to make loads of money and also make the business a better place? Some of this Punk stuff really seems to be weighing too heavily on some people. To me that whole roster as a whole still genuinely seems to have a streak of joyful "Fuck, we're actually getting to do the kind of pro wrestling we want in front of the masses" vibe to it. I'd hate to be so jaded by newz stories whose precise veracity is anybody's guess.

How long does Tony Khan have to run the biggest wrestling promotion of the last 20+ years, sign big money TV deals, and break attendance records, before he doesn't qualify as a "clueless billionaire" any more?

Once he's been doing it longer than Dixie Carter did it?

Oh, it's absolutely no less true than it was 2019 but the public narrative has certainly changed from 'These guys really want to make the business better for everyone' to 'These guys are clearly just bilking this clueless billionaire of as much money as they can'. It was ALWAYS the latter, it's just less people were inclined to say/believe it in 2019.

The boss is making more than the talent is outta aew. Calling him a clueless money mark like he’s gonna end up on the street after being carnied out his last dime is just silly

I think Tony Khan get a level of leeway that he might not receive if he wasn't in charge of a wrestling company that fans enjoy. He's made regrettable - and occasionally mean-spirited comments - on social media on more than one occasion. He's signed wrestlers who have had grave allegations of harassment (and worse) made against them. He's apparently close friends with Charly Arnolt/Caruso - doesn't mean he shares her views, but it at least gives a window into what he finds acceptable to say or believe. He's also demonstrated multiple times that he can be every bit as thin-skinned as CM Punk appears to be.

While calling Khan "clueless" or a "money mark" is a bit much, surely we're at the point where the fact this tiresome situation is still a problem reflects worse on him than it does Punk, or any of the other wrestlers involved.

Unlike other promotions run by money marks though, AEW has actually been successful.

So I honestly don't give a fuck how much Sniff is paying out.

Never said that, treacle, calm your tits.
Nobody's making Tony destitute out of this but he is a clueless money mark.

How are you defining 'success' because if it's 'turning a profit' then that's a big no.
If it's that you and other people like it, well, that's hard to argue - although on that criteria TNA was successful at one point too.

Omega calls out Punk tonight for All In.

All In gets a bit 'shooty' so ref calls it off as 'no contest' so Omega does his 'I bid you farewell' spiel but tacks on that it'll be him V Punk in a No Holds Barred type match the following week at All Out with a 'loser leaves town' kind of stipulation.

Big build up to a big main event for All Out, decent spectacle for Wembley and the two of them have a very public 'settler'. Everyone is a winner....

You don’t think AEW has turned a profit?

You clearly have no clue what a money mark is, you have just heard someone say it and parroting it. Dearie me this is a bit desperate, mute it is

OK bad wording. - match finishes in dodgy fashion so the two get all shooty after the match and match gets made for All Out
