RedRooster
Wow, not much chat about Rampage this week. The opening tag match was excellent, and I hope Tony Khan signs Aussie Open, if he hasn’t already, to strengthen his tag division. I don’t know an huge amount about them, but the little I do know has me feeling surprised that they’ve ended up between companies. Maybe there’s a reason I’m unaware of. Action Andretti continues to be the most detestable character in wrestling for me. He clearly wasn’t ready for the win they gave him, and I think their best chance of getting anything out of him in the short term is to turn him heel. The fact he gets regular TV time when Miro and Eddie Kingston are on the sidelines just baffles me. I suspect he’ll be joining them there soon, though. It was nice to see Lance Archer back. He’s really underrated.
Infinity Land
It was kind of just there and what people were expecting. Enjoyable but disposable Bucks v. Aussie Open was a nice match, but just a prelude to House of Black. Aussie Open might be hanging around a little. They've got dates in NJPW, but they're announced for the Casino Battle Royale as well. I can only assume going by the build that the Trios will continue past Revolution otherwise they would have done more than the light switch and stare downs. I couldn't remember where Toni Storm and Willow Nightingale had wrestled before. Either during Toni's interim title reign or sometime after. Turns out it was only a month ago on Dynamite. There was a time when rematches were rare and highlighted as a selling point or more recently upgraded from Youtube to TV as a showcase. Can't help but think Lance Archer should have returned on one of the Texas shows. Nice to see him and Jake back together. Sammy & Andretti suffers from being the B Plot to the dragged out Jericho/Starks feud. As said before Keith Lee in the Mordecai robe threw me. I'm interested in the tag match next week. Parker's the blatant weak link. Swerve has enough personality that it should help cover some of those limitations by keeping the attention on him. Also think Keith & Dustin as a tag wouldn't be awful. It's not like they're going to do much as a singles. Jade in an open challenge spot. Should get her on the Revolution card. She really needs something more though. The fact the only storyline in the Women's Division still boils down to DMD v. Storm/Saraya is quite a sad state of affairs. Aussie Open for me fall under the "good wrestlers but no gimmick/boring personality" category. No time for that shit. I'd rather they gave underrated acts like Butcher & Blade real pushes or created fresh new teams out of good talent not doing anything to strengthen the division. Absolutely last thing AEW should be doing is hiring any more "good" wrestlers.

I’m with you on Butcher & Blade, and normally I would be with you on the ‘signing a good wrestler’ comment too; but given how thin the tag division has become, I’m fine with them bulking it up somewhat. And who knows, perhaps they’ll develop as personalities in AEW? (Or perhaps I’ll grow bored of them and wish they’d be gone, one year from now…)
Infinity Land
If you look at the 10 teams they've been using for the battle royales, I'd say Aussie Open are one of the stand outs. They've mainly worked Japan and the indies, which don't always have an overlap with working televised wrestling. With the few times we've seen them on AEW in the past was as Ospreay's back up. I certainly think they'd be a good signing long term. As they're still young and they've already garnered a decent reputation within the core/online AEW fanbase. At the weekend they were part of the ROH tapings and seem to have cut at least one promo, as well as wrestling. That's going to give them the opportunity to develop and we'll see where they can go from there. I love Butcher & Blade but they've been around years now. Both are in their mid-40s and Butcher in the past has been a part-timer because of his old band. Don't really see them getting more than what they've done. They do deserve better than Kip Sabian's cronies.
Merzbow
Emi Sakura is on fire, legit one of the best wrestlers in the company these past months. Just give her a full feud with Hayter instead of these ex WWE greebo shitehawks.
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted March 4, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted March 4, 2023 Naturally Limitless. Thought they worked well and a tag title run before Dustin retires would be great. Make it so TK.
Infinity Land
They've really got to figure out what they're doing with Starks after Revolution. I'd say worse case scenario he should win the Owen. As i'm not really sure which heels are going to be free and decent. He also shouldn't be bogged down in the TNT scene since he'd just be getting in the way of Hobbs, someone he's already feuded against. Ideally i'd have him win the Owen and parlay that into the All Out title shot.
Paid Members Supremo Posted March 4, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted March 4, 2023 Awkward, sloppy main event. I can’t tell if Keith Lee is washed, Parker Boudreaux is useless, or a combination of both, but this was much better when it was just Dustin and Swerve. Swerve in particular is better than all this. Elevate this man, already.

Version1.0
Parker Boureaux was beyond embarrasing. He was lost at every stage of that match and should be nowhere near tv. Why did he keep grabbing Keith Lee's head? Edited March 5, 2023 by Version1.
BrodyGraham
Every time I watch Rampage I'm thankful that they hoyed Jim Ross off Dynamite. He does so much to actively undermine the action in ring. It's no coincidence that I started drifting off watching Rampage when he came in.
Merzbow
Yeah JR is a detriment to the product as an announcer, I understand why they wanted him around at first but there's so many others than can do his job now. I doubt he's bringing anyone in to watch the TV.
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted March 5, 2023 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) He didn’t have the best week this week. Did he call Excalibur “Neil” at one point? He did come to life a bit during the main event. Dustin being there helped but JR seems to be keen on Keith Lee as well.
