Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted November 23, 2022 Awards Moderator Posted November 23, 2022 Ah that is sad. I grew up on Canvey Island where he's from. To say he's a local legend is an understatement. I'll pop over there and take a photo of his mural. I was chatting to my mum about ten years ago when his diagnosis came out. "Yes what a shame," she said. "He was always so much fun to be around." "Yes mu- what?" "Oh yeah he was engaged to my best mate, we used to all go out drinking together." How she waited for the first thirty years of my life to pass before mentioning that I don't know.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted November 23, 2022 Paid Members Posted November 23, 2022 he was my Dad's guitar hero, so grew up with his music. You can't really complain about the innings he had, all things considered, was given less than a year and kept gigging for another decade.
Keith Houchen Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Yeah, normally I get miffed when someone does a farewell tour but then carry on playing, in this case for a decade! He was real pragmatic about his terminal diagnosis saying he’d seen what his wife went through and had lived a good life. Then came the experimental surgery and we got years more Wilko goodness. Seeing him and Norman Watt-Roy playing on the same stage is something to treasure for life.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted November 23, 2022 Paid Members Posted November 23, 2022 Liverpool legend David Johnson. Between him and Wilko, I'm going to have to put my dad on suicide watch.

Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted November 26, 2022 Paid Members Posted November 26, 2022 (edited) Doddie Weir, Scottish rugby and British & Irish Lions legend. Bravely fought MND and raised a ton of money in the process (hopefully his foundation continues to do so). Highly regarded as a good egg. EDIT - Great clip of Doddie during some Lions media training: Edited November 26, 2022 by Fatty Facesitter

Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted November 30, 2022 Awards Moderator Posted November 30, 2022 Christine McVie. An absolute whirlwind of talent.
Keith Houchen Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. She was one hell of a songwriter.

Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted December 1, 2022 Paid Members Posted December 1, 2022 I was in my late 20’s before I started listening to Fleetwood Mac. My dad hated the new band and only liked Peter Greens version so never listened to them growing up. Listening to Rumours for the first time blew my mind, and Songbird was such an incredible vocal performance. Seeing them on their last tour and seeing Christine sing that live was amazing and I feel fortunate to have seen them together.
